Noah was stunned. Whether he kept quiet or revealed samantha’s secrets, Finley was determined to kill him. Did Finley have some deep–seated hatred for him Either way, it looked like he had no intention of letting Noah live. 

Noah twisted and squirmed in Finley’s grasp, fighting for his life. 

“Finley, you… You promised to let me go. You–cannot break your word now.”

up, answering the call. His harsh expression immediately softened as he greeted the caller with warmth. 

“What’s wrong, Sam?” 

“I’m finished with work. Are you in your office? I can pick you up if you like.” 

Finley glanced at Noah, still coughing on the floor. “I’m not done with work yet. How about you wait for me in the office? I will meet up with you when I finish.” 

“Alright. I’ll wait for you at your office.” 

“Great. If you get hungry, just order something to eat. I won’t take long.” 

“Okay.” 

As soon as the call ended, Finley set his phone down and walked toward Noah again. Panicking, Noah shouted, “Finley, you said you’d let me go! I swear, I’ll forget everything I told you. I won’t tell a soul about Samantha’s true identity or how her mother really died. Please, let’s leave it at that.” 

“You told me all of this today. What makes you think you will not tell someone else tomorrow? Do you honestly believe I would trust you?” 

Frustration and desperation boiled over as Noah shouted, “I don’t get it, Finley! Wouldn’t it be a good thing if Samantha had a father even more powerful than Dale? Why are you so paranoid about it?” 

Finley’s voice turned icy. “I’m cautious because I do not know what kind of man her father is. What if he’s a criminal? My Sam could become a target just because she is his daughter. If something happened to her, would you be able to take responsibility? 

“Noah, sometimes it does not matter who someone’s biological father is. What matters is that Sam stays safe. Her father needs to be safe, too. If he isn’t, then he has no business being part of her life. 

“I will not let anyone get close to my Sam. I will not let anyone hurt her. That includes you, Noah. You are a danger to her. Why not solve the problem and kill you now?” 

Finley was deranged, Noah thought. Had he completely lost his mind?
