Before Sylvan left with Joel, Samantha called out to him. “If you need anything, feel free to call me. I’ve got my eye on a new series, and I think you’d be perfect for the lead role. Start preparing–I’ll have someone send you the script soon.”
The lead role?
So sudden?
“What kind of show?”
“It’s a period drama. It really suits your calm and composed image. Take some time to rest while I get everything in place.”
Sylvan hadn’t expected to be offered a leading role right after signing the contract. He nodded, still processing the opportunity, and left with the assistant.
Once Sylvan was gone, Samantha checked the time. She had thirty minutes before her next class. Grabbing her bag, she hurried out of the office, stopped by a convenience store to grab a quick snack, and ate as she flagged down a cab back to Saint Night Academy.
When she rushed back into the classroom, Garrison noticed her out of the corner of his eye. He opened his mouth to say something, but Samantha darted past him, completely missing his attempt.
He had no choice but to swallow his words.
Olivia Howard, who had been sitting quietly at her desk, observed Garrison’s disappointed expression. She lowered her gaze, lost in her own thoughts.
Later that afternoon…
After classes ended, Samantha made her way outside the academy. Just as she was about to call for a ride home, she noticed someone suspicious lingering nearby, wearing a face mask and constantly glancing around nervously. It was Noah. Annoyed, she approached him. “Noah, what are you doing here, creeping around like that?”
The moment Noah saw Samantha, he hurried over and grabbed her arm, pulling her to the side. His voice trembled as he pleaded, “Sam, you have to help me this time. You don’t understand how ruthless Finley is! Yesterday, just because I refused to sign the contract, he tried to kill me!”
Το prove his point, he pulled down the collar of his shirt, exposing finger–shaped bruises on his neck, “Look, Sam, look closely. These bruises were caused by him! If you hadn’t shown up yesterday, he might’ve strangled me to death.”
Samantha wasn’t convinced. She knew Finley well enough to understand he wasn’t someone who would lose control that easily, especially not at work. If Finley had truly snapped, Noah must’ve done something to provoke him to such an extent.
Samantha’s voice was cold as she replied, “Noah, I know Finley better than anyone. The idea that he’d try to kill you just because you refused to sign a contract? I don’t buy it. So, next time you try to lie, at least

come up with a better excuse.”
I’m telling the truth!
Why does she believe me?
Glancing nervously around again, Noah pulled her aside and continued his plea.
“Sam, I swear, I’m not lying this time! Everything I just told you is true.”
