Noah hadn’t fully processed the strange things Samantha had said in her sleep. He stood there for a moment, dazed, before he finally responded, “I saw on the news that you were attacked by a murderer. I was worried about you, so I came to check on you. But when I got here, I heard you cursing were you dreaming about? Because I swear, I heard you wishing me a terrible death.”

What else can I be dreaming about other than the horrors of my past life and the things I went through before I died?! Samantha thought, clenching her hand under the covers, digging her nails into her thigh to hide the hatred burning in her eyes. 

“I dreamt that you and Amy were in bed together, and then the two of you killed me and dumped my body in the wilderness. In the dream, you and Amy were so cruel, so vicious, that I couldn’t help but want to kill you both right there. But when I woke up, I realized it was all just a nightmare. None of it was real. I’m sorry, Noah. Did my dream scare you?” 

Noah was baffled. He couldn’t help wondering how she saw him. How could she dream of him being so awful? 

“Sam, it was just a dream. It wasn’t real. There’s no reason to take it seriously. I love you so much–how could I ever bring myself to hurt you? You know that, don’t you?” 

Love me? Samantha thought she had just heard the most ridiculous thing in the world. 

“In my memory, Noah, the woman you’ve always loved has been Amy. So, when did that change? When did it suddenly become me?” 

Her words left Noah feeling awkward. “Sam, that’s not true. The woman I’ve always loved has been you, not Amy.” 

However, the sarcasm on Samantha’s face only grew more pronounced. “Oh, really? I’m curious–how many women have you said that to, Noah?” 

Noah froze. “I’ve only ever said it to you.” 

“If that’s true, then Noah, could you explain to me why, during all those years you studied abroad, you had so many girlfriends?” Samantha continued, her words dripping with scorn. “Or are they not considered people since you said you’ve only ever said it to me? I mean, by your logic, I’m a person, but your exes are… not?” 

How did she find out about my relationships abroad?! Did Finley tell her? Or had she investigated me? 

Noah forced a smile and quickly tried to explain, “Sam you must be mistaken. I didn’t have any girlfriends while I was abroad.” 

Samantha quirked a brow. “So, the women you slept with were just casual hookups then?” 

Noah stammered, “Sam, you’re talking nonsense again. I’ve always remained faithful to you. Don’t you know that?” 

“If that’s true, Noah, are the photos I found all fake?” 

Noah nodded eagerly. “Yes, they’re fake. They were photoshopped.”
