Yorick
When I slam out of Cyra’s room, Zach, Landon, Chase, and Piper are standing against the opposite wall waiting for me.
“We heard you yelling. What can we do?” Zach asks. He’s very quickly becoming someone I trust and admire.
I look around, seeing that people are now waking up.
“Not here,” I say.
“Follow me,” Zach says, and the five us head to the library. The others wave at the person behind the front desk but I ignore them completely. I’m sure my fury is rolling off of me in waves, but I can’t seem to pull it back.
She lied to me.
‘She lied to us. Even if it was by omission,’ Thad says. He’s angry too, although not nearly as angry at Cyra as he is with Stellan.
Zach leads us to the back corner where we met with Tracker.
We sit and I look at my knuckles that are now healed but still covered in blood. I begin rubbing the blood off my knuckles and thankfully, the others wait until I can get my anger under control enough to speak.
“Cyra is an only child,” I say quietly.
It’s quiet a moment, then they all start talking at once.
“The fuck?”
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
“She didn’t think that was important for us to know?”
“Why the fuck would she keep that to herself?”
I look up, looking at each of them. “Exactly.”
“Fuck, Shakespeare. What are you going to do?”
“I’m not going to let that fucking asshole win,” I say, then proceed to tell them that he has a fated mate, but obviously, we now know that his title of Alpha means more than his fated mate.
“Do you know who she is?” Piper asks.
I give her a look.
“Right. You didn’t even know Cyra was an only child. None of us did,” she says.
Zach leans back in his seat, thoughtful. “So, Stellan is a second son. He wants to be Alpha. That explains his part in this, although his mate should reject him if his title is more important to him than she is.”
“Oh, I’m sure he’s promising her that he’ll be with her once he has his heir. He told me I could ‘have her’ meaning Cyra, once he has his heir like he’d be passing me his fucking sloppy seconds when he gets done with her,” I growl, standing and beginning to pace as the need to punch something comes back full force.
“He can’t reject her. It’s her pack. I can’t imagine any pack standing for that,” Piper says.
“He basically said he had no intention of being with her after she bears him an heir. If she doesn’t reject him, she’ll live a life suffering from his infidelity until it kills her.”
“I’m sure that’s what he’s hoping for,” Landon says.
“And if she does reject him, she’ll most likely have the same war that she’s trying to avoid now only it will be Alpha against Luna instead of Alpha against Alpha,” Chase says.
I hadn’t considered that. Cyra either agrees to give him an heir and dies a slow death, or it’s war. Whether it’s now or later, her pack is headed for war because even if Cyra is willing to lay down her life for this agreement, I’m not willing to stand by and let the woman I love die at the hands of that asshole.
“What the fuck are all of you doing here? Don’t think for one minute that just because I met you here you can congregate here anytime you please. This is my space,” Tracker says, walking up behind me.
“Sorry, Tracker. We needed a private place to talk, and you weren’t here,” Zach says to her.
She looks at everyone, assessing and when her eyes finally fall on me, she nods. “Figured it out finally?”
“You knew?”
She gives me a look. “Of course I knew. What kind of a tracker would I be if I hadn’t figured out that your mate is an only child.”
