Caine was as weak as Shamaran, maybe even more so, because unlike the Mother of Poison who willfully submitted herself to the wrath of Primordial Chaos, Caine was filled with nothing but hate as he fought against a power that could wipe him out of existence if they wanted, and yet they did not.
His hate was directed towards Primordial Chaos, burning so fiercely that he was drawing upon it to strengthen his resolve, however, no matter how much he hated Primordial Chaos, what he hated the most was himself.
His weakness, the need for him to bow and scrape for every single crumb of opportunity that the Primordials let slip from their massive fingers, the endless pain and madness that plagued his every waking moment when he imagined that if Primordial Chaos wanted to kill him, he only needed to wish for it.
Caine's greatest fear had been realized and he wanted to scream and scream until there was nothing left in the void but his voice, but he did nothing of such, he simply cursed, so vehemently that Shamaran who was holding on to her sanity went pale in horror at the words he spoke.
He laughed, Caine had thought that he would find death terrifying when it came for him, but surprisingly he felt rather free, the endless weight of existence had been crushing what was left of his soul, and until all of his powers and majesty had been stripped from him that Caine realized how much heavy the burden had become after all these years, and from in-between his curses, a single choked sob escaped,
"It was not supposed to be like this. I was called the Great Betrayer, but I did not betray you, Father, instead I betrayed the man I trusted the most in your name, yet you all denied me my prize and lay nothing but curses and condemnation at my crown. What have I done to deserve such hatred from you, after following nothing but your commandment? Why did you abandon me, father, even after the endless years of pain, searching, and madness, why did you let me linger before the shores of limbo holding nothing but shame in my hands instead of the crown I was promised?"
"How-how dare you," Shamaran whispered weakly to Caine, "you have no end to your shame, and even before his presence you still desecrate his name!"
"Of course he does Shamaran, he is young and foolish, and the years I have given him have been nothing but wasted."
Shamaran had knelt before the presence of Primordial Chaos even before the beginning of the Supreme Era, and she had never heard his voice, his intent was all he had ever seem to need anytime he communicated with his children, even one that we as special as they were, and her shock was palpable because it was widely outside her world view.
Caine shook and struggled to raise his head which was still pressed against the sand, but he could not do so, his eyes tried to track to the place where the sound of Primordial Chaos had emerged and slowly as if a mirage was coming to life, something seemed to be materializing from reality.
