Karma was an extremely potent force in the life of a mortal, but for an immortal, Karma becomes even more prevalent, because the Karma of a mortal was short, his lifespan barely passing a thousand years or at most a hundred thousand, if that mortal happened to become an Earth god, but for an immortal whose lifespan stretched for an infinity, calculating their future became a lesson in futility, although this did not stop many from trying.
The possibility of knowing the future was always enticing as it gave an almost matchless advantage.
An Old One would calculate the future using their dense Aetherium and Essence to power this process. Still, this process was ridiculously energy intensive, and if the Old One was not careful they could be sucked into the threads of Karma, and forget to pull themselves out of it until their bodies and souls perished.
If any Old One could see the thread of Karma swirling around Elura's fingers, they would be shocked to their core because it contained so much complexity that even a hundred of them would be drained dry, but Elura's frown only deepened as she gathered more threads of Karma with both hands until they swirled around her in a storm causing Seed to turn towards her in amazement, the depths of his daughter's powers never failed to astonish him,
"Have you not gathered more than enough threads Elura, do you not see his Fate?"
Elura's frown only worsened as she kept gathering more, and then with a cry of rage, she allowed the threads she was collecting to scatter. Anytime she wanted to take a plunge inside Karma, a great fear filled her soul and she knew that her preparations were not enough, if she ventured into Rowan's Karma with the threads she had gathered, it would only lead to her death.
So she did not look, only gave a cry of rage and allowed the threads to dissipate, she glanced at Seed whose frown had covered his face and she grimaced,
"I… I… can't. There is nothing to grasp in his fate, perhaps it is being shielded by a Primordial because I cannot touch it."
"Hahahaha, what do you mean, Elura, he is right there! You did not attempt to reach across to him, I have weakened his body to that of a mortal and his soul has been bounded to his flesh by that cursed blade, no matter how powerful he becomes he is still a freaking mortal and that meant his Fate can be read like a book,"
The eyes of Seed tightened as he looked at Elura with suspicion, as a green glow began to arise from the depths of his white eyes, and its shape when looked upon closely resembled a tree, but this tree was made out of bones and their number was infinite,
"Are you lying to me, Child? What did you see of his Fate?! This is not the time for any machinations, do not try to hide any of it from me or I shall flay you like a worm."
Elura's face went white in anger as she pointed at the sky,
Seed muttered aloud, "This is wrong, something does not add up." frёeωebɳovel.com
