“Let him in then,” Adam said. “Tell him to come to my room. I can’t go downstairs.”

“Yes, Mr. Adam.” The old butler went away again.

Three minutes later, Adam heard a knock on his door and Edmond’s voice outside. “I’m here, Mr. Adam.”
