The young man's stare made Nathaniel convinced that Adam's action in the past was indeed pulled by strings of unending jealousy. The kind of jealousy Nathaniel saw clearly in his eyes but chooses to shove the feeling away in order not to annoy Alexandra.
He hadn't given Adam much thought until lately when he had ranted like a madman who was suddenly let loose to taunt his rival. It was a heart-aching memory, one his mind wanted nothing more than to bury in the depth of his heart with hopes of never having to surface again. But it wasn't that possible ever since he saved Alexandra back in the woods and somehow, his mind keeps going back and forth to that dreadful day.
And if only she hadn't filled him a little bit on how much she hated that man called Adam then maybe it would have been easy as well for him to forget it, except now, he couldn't.
"You already know the truth"
"I want to hear it from the corners of your mouth"
"Does it change anything?"
"Yes!" He barked, his chin squared up and the Young man knew he was certainly angry with everything. But he doubted Nathaniel was mad at him, he could tell he was furious at himself for not sensing any of this.
He was scolding himself for not trusting his mate, for doubting her, and more especially for not realizing what she has been passing through all alone. If he had known better, then Nathaniel would never have allowed Alexandra to leave the pack alone.
He wouldn't have also gotten into a fight with her the other day before she escaped from his house.
"What does it change Nathaniel?"
"It gives me reassurance, just the one I need when I'm ripping his head off" The words themselves assured Nathaniel that he was going to help Alexandra and when he lays his hands on Adams, it will be his red letter day.
Seeing this wasn't up for debate, the young man States in a soft yet classic manner. "Yes, Adam Hawthorn is jealous of Alexandra Guerrero. Jealousy drove him to plot against her and side with Olivia, he turned against the woman who had chosen to be by his side, and at the end of it all. He killed her, showing his true colors when he knew Alexandra would be incapable of fighting him"
"Adam you piece of shit!" He furrowed his brow, hating that he wasn't staring right into the man who has always been his rival, now turned his object of wrath. He wasn't going to be merciful when they meet. "What happened when he killed her?"
"Alexandra was given another chance to live again"
"Who gave her another chance?"
"Is that necessary right now?"
Nathaniel opened his mouth to let out the words but the words were trapped somewhere he wasn't sure since he wasn't thinking clearly. He blinked and imagined a mirror standing next to him and he could see his reflection right where he wanted it to be. Nathaniel wasn't sure if he should scold himself or praise himself that way he would be much stronger for whatever comes his way when he met Alexandra.
"I don't think is necessary Nathaniel," The man says in a more calm manner seeing he wasn't going to speak up anything soon since he was fighting an inner battle, one that requires that he wins if he wants to help Alexandra.
"Don't beat yourself up, it isn't your fault. You wouldn't have noticed unless Alexandra told you and Alexandra choosed not to"
"No, you don't understand!" Nathaniel was furious, nothing could soothe the pain in his heart. That man was inflicted by him since he only blamed himself for not being able to see through her pain even when she told him so many times that she hated Adam. He choose to always be suspicious instead of sticking to her and getting to know how her jealousy and rift between her family had erupted.
