Chloe watched as Steven bolted from the vehicle, her heart racing. She had no idea what was happening inside—whether Jessica had entered the operating room or not. However, Chloe knew she had to move quickly, or her precious grandchild would be lost forever.

With that, she hurried after Steven, struggling to keep pace.

Steven burst into the obstetrics department. He spotted Gavin and asked, "Where's Jessica?"

Gavin pointed to a nearby room. "In there. The doctor wouldn't let me in. I wasn't authorized. Steven, you're the baby's father. Hurry, go in!"

Steven flung open the door. "Jessica!"

Jessica lay on the operating table, awaiting the procedure. Seeing Steven, a faint smile crossed her pale face. "Doctor, let's begin."
