The Return of My First Love novel Chapter 107

Emily

Lying sick in bed, I could only groan in discomfort. Ever since we had gotten back, that's all I had been doing, and I couldn't help but think it was some kind of karma for going all detective over the whole Isaac situation.

The only thing keeping me together was Naty, and the hilarious voicEmilyail Alessio sent me a few days ago. I had been laughing for days. His drunk confession was Emilybarrassing, cringy, yet undeniably cute.

So cute that I texted him back, telling him not to worry about it and that I still loved him.

Since then, we had talked every night, carefully avoiding the topics of our fight and his drunken voicEmilyail. We had regular conversations.

‘How are you doing?'

‘I love you.'

‘What did you do today?'

‘Get back soon.'

Another groan escaped me as I felt a sudden wave of nausea. The worst thing was that I decided to go through this pain all alone. Pilar was with Gian, because I didn't want to risk getting thEmily sick with whatever I had caught.

I was never a big fan of fevers, but this one seEmilyed worse than normal.

"Mommy!" An adorable voice called out, walking through the door. Naty wore her school uniform, her hair neatly braided as she took baby steps, holding a bowl in her hands. It looked too adorable, it made my heart swell.

"Naty, you're back!" I said, trying to sit up straight.

"I brought you soup, Mommy," Naty beamed, placing the bowl onto the nightstand. "Grandma made it for you."

I couldn't help but feel a wave of gratitude towards Giulia, who, despite everything, had been checking up on me now and then. She was still in charge of all my other duties, and hadn't complained a second.

"Thank you, sweetheart," I pouted. Naty climbed onto the bed and got comfortable beside me. I rather wouldn't have her that close because I didn't want her to get sick, but she insisted.

"How are you doing, Mommy?"

I gave her a smile, hoping it would mask how terrible I felt. "I'm doing better!" I spoke, followed by a cough.

Then, out of nowhere, Naty hugged my stomach and laid down, pressing her head against it. "I had a dream last night," she started, her voice muffled against the fabric of my shirt.

"Really? What did you dream about?"

Naty's hand wandered to my belly, her touch gentle. She took a deep breath and looked up at me with a wide grin. "Mommy had a baby," she said. "The baby looked really cute, and I was a big sister."

"A baby?" I snorted at the thought. "I don't know about that."

As those words left my mouth, a strange feeling settled over me. It wasn't supposed to be as funny, and it wasn't entirely impossible. I slightly panicked as it hit me that I could be pregnant.

"Mommy, I have to go now," Naty announced her exit in a hurry. "We have to go to our painting lessons, bye Mommy!" she squeezed my hand with her tiny fingers and pressed her lips against my belly before dashing out of the room.

"Have fun!" I smiled, seeing her in a good mood. At least everything seEmilyed to be working out for her. She had been the happiest she had ever been, and that was something I had been trying to work towards for years.

Soon after she left, my mind wandered back to Naty's dream. A dream was just a dream, but this one seEmilyed a little close to reality. I wasted no time and grabbed my phone, typing a quick message to Pilar.

‘I need you to come here, without Gian!! SOS!' I hit send, hoping she would understand the urgency.

It barely felt like a second, but soon after Pilar burst through the door, panting heavily as if she had sprinted the entire way from wherever she was.

"You idiot," she bent over with her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath.

I burst into laughter at the sight, feeling a bit confused. "Why are you like this?"

"Girl, I thought you were dying," Pilar managed to say between breaths, shooting me a look that could kill, and it only made me laugh harder.

"I appreciate you rushing over," I chuckled, patting the bed. "Thank you."

"What can I do for you?" She sat down, and I jumped right into it.

"I need you to get me something, but no one can know about it," my voice dropped to a whisper.

Pilar's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Did Alessio tell you I offered him my Daddy's pills? Because he misunderstood," she blurted.

"What? No," I chuckled, that being the last thing on my mind. "I need you to get me a pregnancy test."

My words silenced the room, and I watched as Pilar's expression transformed from confusion to utter shock. Her mouth opened, yet no words came out as she processed my request.

She tilted her head, "A pregnancy test?"
