Chapter 234 A Calming Relationship
Amelie was sure that Willard had something to do with this matter.
“I understand what you mean, don’t worry, I will unveil the trick behind this.”
Amelie and Lamont walked ahead while Miriam followed quietly behind them. Miriam looked at Amelie occasionally, and her resentment toward Amelie deepened further.
She thought she had gotten closer to Lamont, but her plan was cut short by the appearance of Amelie, who seemed to have walked into Lamont’s heart already.
Miriam couldn’t let this be! Otherwise, all of her efforts would’ve been for naught!
The more she thought about it, the angrier Miriam got!
The thought of Cynthia hanging out at Byron’s Residence sent Miriam into a frenzy as well.
All these obstacles made her anxious.
Suddenly, she had an idea.
“Mr. Byron, since Ms. Mullen is here, I’ll head back first. Call me up anytime if you have any orders.”
Miriam was ready to leave them on their own.
“Alright.”
Lamont never gave a thought to it.
Amelie walked into the office and felt indifferent to the normcore interior design.
She thought it fitted Lamont quite well, considering Lamont’s personality.
“I heard that Willard was often looking for you about working together recently, and you’ve rejected all his requests? What’s your thought about it? Do you plan to hide from him forever?”
Amelie changed the topic to Willard instead.
“What do you mean I’m hiding? I’m actually giving Willard an opportunity.”
“Care to elaborate?”
Amelie got curious and turned her head and gave Lamont, who stood behind her, a serious gaze.
“Willard might appear to be bold and fearless, but all these acts are a ploy to divert everyone’s attention. Willard’s real
prey is not on the Bryon family but had always been the Springer family.”
“So you’re saying…”
It was only then that Amelie realized.
“So there’s nothing to worry about, and just go with the flow.”
Amelie felt more at ease after she heard Lamont’s words.
“But that being said, you’d still have to keep an eye on Cynthia. I’m afraid the things that happened to her are not that
simple, and that culprit won’t let that off easily.”
Lamont was right, and Amelie thought the same too.
It was getting late, the two talked about filming, and then they were prepared to leave.
“It’s getting late, I’ll send you back.”
Lamont glanced at the clock on the wall and whispered.
“Sounds good.”
A figure appeared at the entrance as the two were about to open the office door to leave.
It was Leila.
“What brought you here?”
Amelie looked at her, dissatisfied.
“Can’t I be here?”
Leila glanced at Amelie disdainfully, and walked towards Lamont’s side.
“I’m Lamont’s fiance after all, Amelie. Why are you here? Don’t you know Lamont had a change of status with you?”
“A change of status?”
Amelie turned her head towards Lamont on the side.
“Why haven’t I heard about it? Leila, you told us about you being Lamont’s fiance. Is there anyone out there who can prove your statement?”
“Why, you little! Know your place, Amelie! I’m warning you to leave this place and stop thinking about getting closer to my fiance!”
Leila was infuriated by Amelie’s words and replied arrogantly.
Amelie ignored it and treated it as a joke.
But Lamont walked in front of Amelie and blocked her.
“I can’t believe it!”
