This meant that, having benefited from his daughter Madelyn's involvement, Hayson had fully gained the favor of the Arnold family. As the exam time approached, Madelyn passed the time by reading a novel in Etlinish. Her tutor had mentioned that reading could help increase her knowledge. "How've you been lately, Madelyn? Last time Zach and I went to the hospital to see you, the doctor said you'd left. We planned to visit you at the Arnold residence, but we never found the time. I'm sorry."

Without lifting her head, Madelyn turned a page and said, "I'm fine. You and Zach don't need to worry about me."

Jadie looked at the book in Madelyn's hands, filled with Etlinish text. "What book are you reading?"

"War and Peace."

"It's not the right time to read these books. You haven't been back to school for several days, so I took notes for you. You can have them to review," Jadie said, not being able to help but worry for her.

Madelyn said, "Thank you, I--"

"I'll leave them here for now. I have to go to Math Olympiad training class." Jadie left a notebook and walked away.

Madelyn did not get to finish her sentence; she wanted to say it was not necessary. She was determined to get the top spot in the Math Olympiad special training class exam. If she came first in the final Math Olympiad exam, she would get direct admission to Ventropolis University. She did not want to rely completely on the Arnold family.

"Hey, Madelyn." Adrian showed up just as Jadie left, leaning against the window. "I'm talking to you."
