Madelyn went to Hayson's room. She saw a caregiver feeding Hayson medicine.
Madelyn asked, "What medicine are you feeding him?"
The caregiver glanced at Madelyn, "This is the medication for treating Mr. Jent's stroke."
Madelyn saw that Hayson had opened his eyes. He was awake, but he looked out of it. All of a sudden, he started to shake and then threw up the medicine.
Quickly, the caregiver put the medicine bottle down and began wiping him off. Madelyn, watching from the side, saw the annoyed look on the caregiver's face. After a hasty cleanup, the caregiver tried to give him the medicine again. But Hayson threw up again, and this time it was even worse. Even from where Madelyn stood, she could smell the bad odor. She pulled back the blanket and saw that the bed was wet with urine.
The caregiver frowned as she said, "Ms. Jent, you should leave for now. I need to change his clothes."
Madelyn said firmly, "I'll handle it. Please get the medicine ready and bring me a copy of the prescription."
The caregiver, Amber Upton, hesitated, "Mr. Jardin assigned me this responsibility. I'm not sure I should step away."
Madelyn's voice instantly turned cold, "This is my home, not his. I'm letting you know now that you're no longer needed."
Amber stood her ground, "Ms. Jent, you can't just fire me without a valid reason. Our contract states you'd owe me triple compensation if you do."
Unfazed, Madelyn said, "Whatever the cost, I want you out. I'll make sure you're paid according to the contract. Now, please leave."
Amber shot back, "Mr. Jardin hired me. He's the only one who can let me go."
Madelyn said, "Well, think about it carefully then. If I talk to him and he tells you to leave, you won't see a dime."
