Margaret stepped back and gestured aimlessly, “Oh my gosh! Ms. Jent, I’ve got to say, this child really looks like you and Mr. Jardin. Look at his eyes, nose, and mouth. It’s like a combination of both of you!” 

‘A combination?’ 

Madelyn lowered her gaze and forced a smile, pretending not to care, “I’m no longer able to conceive. If this child does happen to resemble me, it’s probably just a coincidence.” 

From the beginning, Madelyn was also skeptical. But as time passed, this child, who was initially malnourished and skinny, had become plump and healthy. When she watched him at night, there was a voice in her heart telling her, ‘Look at how much this child looks like you. He’s your child.’

Margaret immediately noticed the item in his hand, ‘I-It’s so thick.’ 

“Let Margaret feed him the medicine. Come and have dinner now,” Zach said as he walked over, dressed in comfortable pajamas with half-dried hair, handing over the pouch. 

Margaret hesitated to take it, “Mr. Jardin, the salary for this month has already been paid!” Although she said that, her eyes remained fixed without leaving. 

Zach replied, “It’s a bonus.” 

Margaret immediately snatched it, “Oh my goodness! Thank you, Mr. Jardin! You’re such a kind person. May you enjoy good health and safety throughout your long life.”

Zach had heard many comments from the outside world about him, which usually described him as ruthless and willing to do anything. Some even use worse words to describe him. 

‘Praising me as a kind person? That’s a novel idea!’ Zach thought. 

Margaret took the substantial sum of her bonus. Without saying a word, she took the bowl from Madelyn’s hand, cradled the child in her other arm, and said, “Ms. Jent, I’ll take care of feeding the medicine. You and Mr. Jardin go ahead and eat.” 

“Wait…” Madelyn wanted to say something more, but Margaret had already run off with the child. 

Zach took her hand and adjusted their fingers to intertwine, even though they were near the sofa, which was just a few steps from the dining room. 

Madelyn asked, “How much did you give her?” 

Zach smiled, “Just a little. Fifty thousand dollars.
