Dalton had tears in his eyes, his tiny hand pointing toward the bed as if seeking comfort. With an urgency, Margaret pulled Dalton away and said, “Mr. Jardin, please excuse me. I’ll take Dalton to rest in the room next door.” 

Sighing internally, Margaret whisked Dalton away to the room next door. She thought, ‘Poor thing. Why did it have to be cancer? She’s so young and a nice girl, not even married with children yet.’ 

Zach held Madelyn’s hand against his face, relishing, the warmth. He murmured, “Madelyn, don’t sleep too long. Please wake up soon.” 

Zach’s wishes now were nothing more than dreams. Following what Madelyn did for Ethan before, Zach went to the monastery each day to pray for her well-being. Using the names of Azure Corporation and Jardin Corporation, Zach established a foundation for children, built schools in impoverished areas, and donated millions in resources. 

Zach also contributed a substantial amount of money to orphanages nationwide. When the news broke, reporters scrambled for an exclusive interview. Yet he declined them all. His public relations team was caught off guard. Even the corporations’ stock prices soared overnight, but none of that phased Zach. He continued his daily routine: work, hospital, monastery. 

Reporters were desperate for a scoop and secretly followed Zach, capturing him sitting in the pew for hours at Mistral Monastery. Overnight, the photograph graced the newspapers’ front pages, causing a stir in the capital city. The public was intrigued. They wondered why a man of Zach’s status indulged in such actions. 

Upon descending the mountain, a throng of reporters surrounded Zach. Questions bombarded him. 

“Mr. Jardin, you’ve been honored as the top philanthropist in Venturia this year. Do you have anything you’d like to say about that?” 

“Mr. Jardin, why did you suddenly donate such a large sum of money to so many welfare organizations? Is there a particular reason behind it?” 

“Mr. Jardin, we haven’t seen Mrs. Jardin since your marriage. Is everything you’re doing related to her?” 

Someone in the crowd could not help but ask, “Mr. Jardin, is it true that Mrs. Jardin is ill, and that’s why you’re here at the temple? To pray for her?” 

Zach kept his gaze forward. Under the protection of his bodyguards, he got into his luxurious Rolls-Royce. As the car sped away, the reporters had not gotten a single word out of Zach. 

Three months later, as Christmas approached, the city was blanketed in snow. Many storefronts were adorned with Christmas lights and displayed Christmas trees, contributing to the festive atmosphere. Meanwhile, in a private hospital ward, Zach sat by Madelyn’s side, speaking softly, “It snowed today. How about we go skiing when you wake up?” 

“If you don’t wake up when I turn thirty-three next year, I’ll leave Ventropolis with you,” Zach continued. “I’ve prepared everything for Kevin to take over the business. This way, I can spend more time with you.” 

Even if Zach were to step down as the CEO of Jardin Corporation, he would still have his investments, stocks, and bonds. He would be set for life. 

Madelyn’s shaved hair had grown back. Zach meticulously groomed her locks daily, anticipating the day she would wake up and everything would be back to normal. Though he had no idea when Madelyn was going to wake up, he was aware that he might have to wait for a long time. 

A news broadcast flashed on the television in the hospital ward, announcing, “According to Dr. Linton of the Central Med Research Institute, the CEO of Jardin Corporation has invested a massive one billion dollars in cancer medical research… 

“With the support of the CEO of Jardin Corporation, they hope to make significant progress in cancer research and develop effective treatments as soon as possible. They wish for all cancer patients around the world to have access to these treatments. They also wish everyone good health, happiness, and well-being.”
