She quickly stepped in front of Dylan, who had no intention of speaking to her.

“Wait, Dylan! I need to talk to you,” Sophie called out urgently.

“Move aside.” Dylan’s brow furrowed, his voice cold as he spoke.

Sophie shook her head, biting her lip slightly as she looked at him. “Dylan, it’s been so long since you’ve been back. Could you at least hear me out for a moment? Just a few words, and I’ll leave right after, I won’t be a bother.”

“You’re already bothering me.”

Dylan had seen entirely through Sophie’s true nature, and his previous affection for her was now gone.

Sophie cursed under her breath, but kept her expression unchanged, maintaining the facade of sorrow and pain. “But Dylan, I’m only here to apologize.”

“I know the reason you’ve been so distant is because I’ve done wrong. However, I’ve realized my mistakes and have been reflecting on them at home. So, could you forgive me just this once? I swear, I’ll never make those mistakes again.”

“You didn’t just make a mistake.” Dylan suddenly cut her off, his voice harsh and unyielding.

He said coldly, “You did something you shouldn’t have. The worst thing you could have done was disturb Caroline’s remains.”

Sophie faltered, quickly adjusting her words. “Yes, Dylan, you’re right. It was something I shouldn’t have done. Although it was my people who acted without my consent, in the end, I’m still responsible…”

What Sophie didn’t realize was that Dylan had already witnessed everything. Her words, her actions, her every glance and true nature–he had seen all of it.

So, even if she tried to place the blame on her people, it was pointless now.

Sophie’s every excuse only pushed him further.

“Since the moment you stepped into Duke’s estate, from Gabriel to the rest of us–even Eliza, who hasn’t been tolerant of you? Who hasn’t let you have your way? Now that Eliza and I have left this house, what grievance do you still have?”

“It used to be that I, Dylan, was blind and couldn’t see clearly. But now, my eyes are open. I see everything. So, stop trying to deceive me, because if you keep treating me like a fool, I won’t hold back anymore.”
