The Lady Nun Vows Revenge novel Chapter 290

290.Chapter 290

Crack!

As Benedict stepped into the study, the sound of a coffee cup being violently shattered caught his attention. He quickly entered the room and saw Dylan, who had promised to stay in his quarters earlier, now kneeling before Gabriel.

Coffee had splashed everywhere near his knees, and the shattered fragments indicated several coffee cups had already been broken before Benedict arrived.

Sitting at the high table, Gabriel narrowed his eyes, his voice tinged with anger. Dylan, I’m giving you one last chance. Tell me, what were you looking for in this study?

Dylan kept his head down, silent. From the moment he had been captured, he hadn’t uttered a single word. Despite Gabriel s repeated questioning, Dylan remained expressionless, offering no response at all.

The sight only fueled Gabriel’s rage. Fine. If you’re going to resort to such underhanded tactics, don’t blame me for what

comes next.

Someone, bring the family punishment!

At the door, Benedict couldn’t hold himself back any longer. He stepped forward, his voice urgent, Wait, Gabriel. There must be some misunderstanding here. Let me speak with Dylan. Perhaps we can get to the bottom of this.

Gabriel looked up at Benedict, frustration simmering beneath his cold expression. Why, among his four sons, was there not one who could give him peace of mind?

Gabriel thought, Why is it that none of my four sons are giving me peace of mind? Matthew and Anthony are excusable- one is too extreme in his actions, and the other is constantly in poor health. Even Dylan isn’t much betterimpulsive, quick to anger, and difficult to handle. But Benedict is different. He’s the one who resembles me the most out of all of them.

Gabriel had always taken great care in raising Benedict, teaching him since childhood. He had already decided long ago that Benedict would inherit the title of Duke once he stepped down. It had always been the plan.

But somewhere along the way, everything in the Duke’s estate had unraveled. Matthew, Anthony, and Sophie were a different matter. But Dylan had run away with Eliza, and Benedict had grown distant, estranged from him. They only spoke when necessary, avoiding him the rest of the time.

If it weren’t for Dylan today, Gabriel doubted Benedict would even have stepped foot in his study.

Gabriel fixed Benedict with a stern look. But in the end, Gabriel relented, speaking with a cool detachment.

If you want to speak to him, then do it. Clear up whatever misunderstanding there is. Otherwise, I won’t show him any more mercy today.

Gabriel spoke coldly, The Duke’s estate can do without Lord Dylan, but we will not tolerate the presence of such deceitful, dishonorable individuals.”

Dylan, hearing Gabriel’s harsh words, clenched his fists tightly. After remaining silent for so long, he finally couldn’t hold

back.

Gabriel, why such anger? Could it be you’re hiding something in your study that shouldn’t be seen?Dylan shot back.

Silence!Gabriel snapped, his voice sharp.

Before Gabriel could say more, Benedict quickly reacted, slapping Dylan lightly on the back of his head.

Gabriel, Dylan speaks without thinking. Please allow me to handle this and discipline him properly,Benedict said, his tone respectful yet firm. Please, give me a moment.

Get over here, Dylan!Benedict’s voice was commanding, and he swiftly grabbed Dylan by the ear, pulling him aside to a corner of the study.

Once they were out of earshot, Benedict shot Dylan a fierce glare. Didn’t I tell you to stay put in my room? Why did you sneak into Gabriel’s study? What are you looking for?He asked bluntly.

To Benedict’s surprise, Dylan, who had been speaking just moments ago, now fell silent. He turned his head away, wearing an expression that clearly said, Don’t ask, I won’t tell.

Benedict couldn’t help himself and gave Dylan another sharp look. Fine, fine, you don’t want to talk. But from now on, you’ll listen to me. Whatever I say, you will do, and you will not argue with Gabriel.

Dylan opened his mouth, about to protest, but Benedict immediately yanked him by the ear, causing him to wince in pain. Do you understand? Are you going to listen to me?

Fine, fine, I’ll listen!Dylan replied quickly, not wanting to provoke Benedict further.

You’re not taking me seriously, are you?Benedict muttered, not releasing his grip on Dylan’s ear. He lowered his voice and spoke sternly, his words laced with irritation.

A few moments later, the sharp sound of a stap echoed in the corner.

Benedict and Dylan emerged shortly after

Gabriel looked at them, his expression darkening as his gaze first landed on Dylan’s hand covering his face. Upon closer inspection, he saw the unmistakable mark of a slap. It was obvious Benedict had just slapped him.

Gabriefs eyes flickered briefly before settling on Benedict, whose expression was one of frustration, disappointment, and a particular unspoken anger.

Raising an eyebrow, Gabriel asked coolly, What happened? Have you found out anything?
