Just before heading to Saint Grace Nunnery, Gabriel caught wind of another matter.

“Diana’s back in Hasen City?‘ Gabriel’s brows knitted together.

The butler nervously wiped the sweat off his forehead. It was his mistake. Benedict’s sudden accident had thrown the entire Stonor family into disarray, leaving everyone scrambling to deal with the chaos. In the midst of it all, he had completely forgotten to inform Gabriel about Diana.

It wasn’t until today, when Gabriel ordered the carriage to be prepared for Saint Grace Nunnery in Mount Westin, that the butler remembered Diana was also there.

“Did those two kids get into a fight?”

“They did.”

Gabriel asked, “Who started it?”

“Miss Baker threw the first punch. Lord Matthew fought back but held himself in check. He didn’t actually hurt her.”

“Well, at least he’s not completely brainless. The engagement between the Stonor family and the Baker family can not be broken. Go to the storeroom, pick out a proper gift, and bring that troublemaker Matthew along. We’re heading to Saint Grace Nunnery. Whatever it takes, he should get Diana back on our side.”

The butler hesitated. “But Matthew’s injuries haven’t healed yet…”

He was still kneeling in the cemetery.”

Gabriel snorted. “That’s exactly what I want. If he were fully healed, I’d have to beat him up again to make it convincing” The butler immediately caught on.

This was all about using Matthew’s injuries to play the sympathy card.

Gabriel turned to him with a cold, cutting glare. “You think you’re any better? Dylan might be naive, but you’re just plain stupid. You’ve no right to mock him.”
