402.Chapter 402
Isabelle was stunned instantly upon hearing those words.
Step by step, she retreated toward the mouth of the alley, her voice trembling as she asked, “W What do you mean? Didn’t you say my father paid you two thousand dollars to escort me back to Hasen City?”
“That’s right, Fletcher did pay us. But he also gave us another order,” the man in black said, his eyes cold as he saw through Isabelle’s movements and began walking toward her.
“What order?” Isabelle asked, her gaze locked on him.
“He said his daughter knows too much. So, Miss Henderson, you’d better keep your mouth shut forever, the man sneered.
As soon as he said that, Isabelle turned and bolted without hesitation.
But she had barely taken a few steps when several figures appeared at the alley’s exit, dressed identically to the man in black. It was clear they were his accomplices.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, Isabelle, who couldn’t leave the alley, had to stop.
“Alright, it’s about time. If we drag this out any longer people from the Duke of Noganlul’s estate might catch up, one of the men said.
“Do it,” the leader ordered, and at his command, the group immediately closed in on Isabelle,
But in the next moment, Isabelle suddenly pulled something from her sleeve and swung it forcefully toward them.
In the darkness, she scattered something into the air.
Before these men could react, they clutched their throats, their eyes wide as blood spilled from their mouths. One by one, they collapsed to the ground.
In mere moments, these men died.
“You even brought poison!” The black–clad man behind Isabelle froze in shock, not expecting her to come prepared.
He drew his sword in a flash and slashed at Isabelle.
Isabelle scrambled backward to dodge, but her foot caught on the corpses littering the ground. She stumbled and fell, narrowly avoiding a fatal strike. Still, the blade managed to graze her arm, leaving a stinging wound.
“Ouch!” She let out a pained grunt, her eyes flashing with fury
Before that man could react, she grabbed another handful of the poisonous powder and flung it at him.
But this time, he was prepared. The moment Isabelle moved, he stepped back swiftly, dodging the powder.
He said, “You still want to use that trick? You must be courting-”
Before he could finish his sentence, a gleaming dagger sliced through the cloud of powder and plunged into his abdomen: 1 came prepared with more than just poison,” Isabelle said coldly.
The man coughed up blood, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at Isabelle. He hadn’t expected his group to fall into the hands of a mere girl.
“When did you…” he asked.
