Gabriel barely managed to hold back from calling Sophie a fool again.
He thought, ‘She’s only now realizing how serious this is. What else could she be but a fool?
And yet, this fool is my own daughter.
I truly have no idea who she takes after
“You better pray they haven’t been caught, or better yet, pray they’ve already taken their own lives. Because if any of them gets captured, do you think they can endure the Ministry of Justice’s torture?” Gabriel’s gaze was sharp and dangerous as he stared at Sophie
Sophie swallowed hard, her voice trembling “They probably won’t get caught, right?”
She tried to convince herself, ‘They’re ruthless people. Even if they’re caught, they’d probably kill themselves right away. Yeah, it won’t happen. It absolutely won’t happen!
Sophie was trying to reassure herself, completely unaware that someone was already locked up in the Ministry of Justice prison.
Gabriel scoffed, not even bothering to look at her foolish face. “I gave you both a chance, but you’ve proven yourselves useless. Since you found nothing, go live in the countryside with Dylan and be commoners.”
He stood up as if he was about to call someone to throw them out.
Sophie panicked. “No, Father! Are you really going to send us away?”
She thought, ‘Is Father really serious about this?‘
“You think I’m joking?” Gabriel’s tone was sharp and cold.
This time, he truly wasn’t joking.
But to say he was completely banishing them wouldn’t be accurate.
These two had let him down too many times. If this went on, the Duke’s estate would crumble long before Benedict
recovered.
He had to make them learn a hard lesson.
Once they’d suffered enough and learned their lesson, he would bring them back.
It was the perfect chance to send them to Dylan. He still hadn’t figured out what happened last time, and having these two there would make it easier for him to confirm whether Dylan saw that particular item in the study that day.
Gabriel was lost in thought when Matthew suddenly spoke up. “Father”
Gabriel shot him a sharp glance. “If you’re here to beg for mercy, save your breath.”
Gabriel assumed Matthew was about to plead, but the next moment, he saw Matthew pull out a small, palm–sized box from
his robes.
He said, “Father, although I couldn’t find the antidote or the Poisonous Flower for Benedict, I recently heard about a rare pill called the “Immortality Pills. It’s said to be miraculous, no matter the illness, poison, or injury, taking this elixir can heal it instantly. Yesterday, Sophie and I pooled our money to buy one for Benedict. Maybe it can neutralize the poison in his body.”
“The Immortality Pills?” Gabriel’s eyes narrowed sharply, his gaze locking onto Matthew. His tone was cold and stern as he demanded, “Where did you hear about this?”
Matthew hadn’t expected such a reaction from his father
He froze for a moment before quickly replying, “I heard it from one of my friends.”
“From now on, you’re forbidden to associate with that person! Gabriel barked.
Matthew was stunned. “Why? Is there something wrong with the Immortality Pills?”
Gabriel sneered, “Just because some shady pill is called “Immortality Pills, you think it’s a miracle cure? How could I have raised such a gullible son?”
He shot a sharp glare at Sophie. “And you! What a pair of idiots.”
He thought, They are always making things w

“No, no! It was Matthew who bought it. I haven’t even seen the pill myself” Sophie stammered, her voice trembling Matthew stammered, his face turning red. “Sophie and I only had enough for one. The pille still in the box”
Their constant troublemaking had long since led Gabriel to take control of their finances.
He had even issued a stem warning, if either of them dared to stir up trouble at Saint Grace Nunnery again, they wouldn’t see a single com in the future.
Perhaps that was why Sophie and Matthew had been unusually well behaved lately.
“You’re lucky you didn’t dig yourselves an even deeper grave.” Even in their panic, Sophie and Matthew could fell from Gabriel’s tone that something was gravely wrong.
Sophie asked cautiously, “Father, what’s the deal with this pill? Why can’t we take it? Is it some kind of poison?”
