Chapter 692
Chapter 692
Eliza sensed the situation on Vexara’s side.
Just a quarter of an hour more was all that was needed.
Right then, she heard Sophie speaking. Seeing that she seemed to be stalling as well, Eliza lifted her eyelids lightly.
She said, “There are some things I don’t wish to remind you about twice.”
Sophie clenched her teeth, suppressing her anger, and corrected herself. “Your Holiness! Is that good enough for you?”
Only then did Eliza smile faintly and answer the question Sophie had asked earlier. “So what if I am? And what if I’m not?”
“No matter what you are, since you’ve come to Marquis’s estate today, you’re already entangled in its affairs. You must save them. Otherwise, how could you live up to your boundless compassion and your title as Holy Lady?” Sophie sneered coldly.
Eliza asked coldly, “You’re threatening me?”
Although Eliza had come specifically for Adeline and Dale, admitting it outright would only make Sophie more emboldened. Especially with Caleb still in her hands.
Neither Adeline nor Dale spoke up.
Dale could tell both Eliza and Sophie were stalling for time.
As for Eliza’s reasons, they were obvious.
But Adeline didn’t see it clearly. When she heard Eliza’s words, she mistakenly thought Eliza had changed her mind and didn’t want to save them anymore.
Her expression instantly turned panicked, and she blurted out, “Holy Lady, you can’t abandon us! You already promised…”
Before she could finish, Dale hurriedly covered her mouth. Unfortunately, it was too late.
Sophie said, “Already promised? Promised what? Promised that you’d save them, right?”
Sophie burst into laughter. “You old hag! You never escaped to find my father at all! You dare lie to me? Had I known, I would’ve just killed you back then!”
Sophie hadn’t expected Adeline to ruin her plans. But it didn’t matter. Eliza was here now.
She didn’t need to seek Eliza out. She could kill her right here, in Marquis’s estate.
Eliza’s gaze swept coldly over Adeline.
Even though Dale had an apologetic expression, it didn’t quell the impatience surging within Eliza.
Eliza asked, “Since it’s already out in the open, let’s be direct. What will it take for you to spare the people of Marquis’s estate?”
Seeing that the calm expression on Eliza’s face had vanished, Sophie felt a surge of satisfaction.
Tilting her chin arrogantly, she said, “I can let them go, but you must cut off one of your arms, right here and now,”
Before she could finish, a flying needle shot toward her from Rafe’s hand.
Had Sophie not dodged quickly, the needle would’ve pierced her forehead.

Seated at the head of the room, Eliza smiled faintly. “To me, Marquis’s estate isn’t something that must be saved. Yould best think carefully before you speak. One last chance.”
Sophie gritted her teeth in hatred, but still couldn’t do anything to Eliza.
As Eliza had said, Sophie knew all too well what the past relationship was between the Marquis’s estate and Eliza
If Eliza truly decided not to save them, threats would be meaningless.
Thinking this through, Sophie’s gaze flickered, then she said, “Since you want to save people, then bring people to exchange for them.”
“Who do you want?” Eliza narrowed her eyes.
Sophie said, “I want… Benedict, Matthew, and Anthony. Use these three to exchange for Dale’s family. As for the other servants in the manor, use that illegitimate child you previously sent back to the Duke’s estate to trade for them.”
At the mention of these names, a strange expression appeared on Eliza’s face.
She hadn’t expected all the people Sophie wanted were from the Stonor family. Other than Gabriel, she didn’t even spare Rafe, who had just returned to the Stonor family.
Sophie didn’t mention the missing Dylan at all.
Suddenly, Eliza remembered a move she had made in the past and vaguely guessed what this was all about. So she asked, “What do you want them for?”
Sophie’s smile instantly turned cold and vicious. “They betrayed me. They all deserve to die. But killing them outright wouldn’t satisfy my hatred!”
She continued, “So I’ll make them all into puppets, and use them to take revenge on my father!”
She was the daughter of the Duke of Mowbay. She should have been the legitimate heir of the Duke of Mowbay.
But now, everyone only knew her as the Duke of Mowbay’s illegitimate daughter.
Becoming the legitimate daughter of the estate had always been Sophie’s obsession.
So when she first returned to the estate, she deeply resented Eliza and her mother, Caroline. Even now, she still wished she could kill them both.
