“A middle–aged man in an official uniform, and a handsome young man.”

Wearing an official uniform and willing to accompany Adeline, it must be either Gabriel or Dale.

So the only one who could come was Dale. The remaining one was obviously Caleb.

Dale slapped Caleb hard on the back of the head without mercy. “You are not allowed to talk to Eliza in such a tone either!”
