“Look at that, it’s a Luna out in the wild. Don’t scare her off.” I roll my eyes as I walk into the kitchen, Selena is whispering to the table in the kitchen as she watches me cross the room. As soon as I opened the door to the basement my stomach started growling, now all I can do is beeline for the food on display. 

“Thank Goddess, here I made some fresh muffins, some waffles and pancakes.” I almost laugh as Sally starts rushing to shove food at me. 

“Looks amazing,” I tell her with a smile as I start to load up a plate, I don’t take too much, I don’t want to give myself a stomach ache. “Has. Sophie been up? I didn’t see her in the basement.” When Sally doesn’t answer me I turn around to look at Selena, she’s steadfastly not looking. at me. “Selena?” 

“Alright, she’s at the border talking to Eric. Fraction is there too so it’s not like she’s alone.” I can tell from Selena’s that she doesn’t quite believe her own words, for some reason I can’t understand Sophie. keeps running to the border to talk to Eric. The last time I saw them together was in the clearing and she was terrified of him. 

“I don’t get it, one second she’s shaking on the ground and now she can’t keep away from him.” I shake my head as I take my plate over to the table, it’s fairly late in the morning so it’s only the three of us here today.

“Like what?” I cover my mouth as I take a bite out of my muffin, the blueberry flavour burst across my tongue making me moan. “These are amazing, your best ones yet.” Sally beams from behind the counter before going back to her cleaning, I’ve come to learn that Sally is not a slave to this kitchen. It’s a labour of love for her, she genuinely enjoys being in here and feeding the Pack.. 

“Well maybe he scented her and although she’s young maybe she’s drawn to, 

I almost spit my muffin out at Selena’s absurd observation, I can’t help the choking laugh that comes out of my mouth. 

“She’s sixteen and he’s a full grown Alpha, that’s just wrong.” I put the muffin down and pick up my hot water and lemon, my stomach 

suddenly feels very icky. 

“It’s not like he’s going to ravage her in the street Eva, he physically can’t tell her until she’s of age. And we don’t know for sure that’s what’s going on.” Selena looks really calm considering she’s just. accused a full grown Alpha of having the hots for a sixteen year old. 

“Yeah,” I draw the word out as I get up from the table. “I’m going out there, this is just wrong on so many levels.” I leave my food behind suddenly not very hungry at all and run from the kitchen before either of them can stop me. 

‘Eva, where are you going?‘ I’m barely a few steps out of the driveway as Cas’s voice comes over the Pack link. 

‘Just off to find Sophie.‘ I have no doubt Selena has gone down there and grassed me up but it’s not like he can come chasing after me. ‘Fraction is there, don’t worry.

Now shoo and get some rest,‘ I don’t know where this sassy side of me has come from but honestly I don’t hate it, I feel Cas close the link down after he mumbles some words I don’t understand. I’m not walking for long before I see Sophie sitting in the middle of the road, Fraction standing behind her and Eric sitting across from her. 

“What’s this?” I ask as I walk towards the group. Fraction just shrugs. his shoulders and steps back. Sophie looks a little embarrassed to be caught out here again and Eric just looks mildly annoyed at being interrupted. 

“Just talking, Luna.” Sophie is looking down at her hands as she shakes her head causing her red hair to swing around her head. 

“We’ve talked about you coming out here, it’s not safe. Come on back to the Pack house.” I start to turn around but after a few steps I realise Sophie is not following me, “alright. What am I missing here?” I throw my hands up in the air and look over at Fraction, he again just shrugs his shoulders. 

“She’s perfectly safe with me Eva.” Eric unfolds his massive body and stands, crosses his arms over his chest; he looks like a towering beacon over the tiny girl still sitting on the floor. 

“Is this some kind of weird shifter kinky thing I just don’t understand?” Fraction bursts out laughing as I look around the road, almost like I’m. waiting for someone to jump out and shout surprise.
