“Angel, you’re going to go all pruney if you stay in there much longer.” Looking at myself in the mirror as I listen to the water shower over Eva I notice how tired I look. I can’t remember the last time I got more than a few hours of sleep and I know it will be a while before I do.
“I know.” Her voice is sad as the water cuts off, she wanted me to f uck her in the shower but honestly I just don’t have it in me. Her tired eyes match mine and I know she’s exhausted, I understand her need for connection but right now she needs sleep.
“Come on, let’s get you dry and get you and my pup to bed.” Eva beams at me as she slides the glass door open and sees me standing there with a fluffy white towel open for her, I have the matching one wrapped around my waist.
“You going to sleep with me?” Her voice is muffled as her face plants. the towel and I draw my arms around her, effectively swamping her in fluffy goodness.
“No Angel, I need to check on Jeremy and make sure he has guards and I really need to go and check these warriors Fraction has sent.” Honestly it’s the last thing I want to do but I know I won’t sleep until I know Jeremy is secure and the two warriors will give me two extra bodies to place on him.
“Fine, but you need to dress.” I chuckle as Eva pushes away from me and walks to the bed, she drops the towel as he does, I don’t complain about her wet hair as she climbs into the bed. I know she’s beyond tired. so I’ll just change the sheets tomorrow.
“Sleep Angel, I’ll come and join you for a nap later.” Eva mumbles

something as I walk into the bedroom, dropping my towel on the chair. I quickly pull on a pair of joggers, a plain red t-shirt and some trainers. No point in getting all fancy to meet warriors, they won’t care what I look like.
“Jeremy?” I bark out as a greeting to Rowan as soon as I burst through the basement door. My Beta scrambles to his feet dropping the sandwich he’s eating onto the plate balanced on the small sofa.
“Secure, I have two guards o the door and one in the building. It’s all we cam spare from patrols right now.” Nodding my head at Rowan I point to the sandwich.
“Best eat that on the move, I have some warriors to bring in.” Rowan raises an eyebrow before grabbing his sandwich and jogging after me.
“You going to accept them then?” I nod my head as I jog down the porch steps. The sun is blazing overhead, it gives me hope that the worst of the winter weather will soon be behind us. Eva hates the cold.
“If Fraction sent them then that’s good enough for me.” I’ve given it a lot of thought and if Fraction had them around his Omega mate it means they can be trusted and from what I understand the only reason they are leaving is in hope of finding a mate.
“I’m glad to hear you say that, we need the bodies. Maybe we can put the word out for the Moon Ceremony?” I’m shaking my head before Rowan even finishes. Looking around me I make sure we are alone as we walk along the road towards the boarder.
“I’m not certain we are going to the Moon Ceremony, it depends what happens with The Elders.” Rowan goes quiet as he contemplates the meaning of my words.
“You want to close the doors, like you father?” He’s shocked and I can’t help the growl that leaves my throat, I hate being compared to the man

“No but I might do it officially. Like Alaska.” Rowan socks in a breath. as we walk the rest of the way in silence. Alaska has been an independent Pack for going on sixty years. They don’t answer to The Elders and they don’t have a governing body, all reports sound like they are a thriving Pack yet no one else has ever followed suit.
“You think we could?” Rowan puts hand on my arm, making me stop, turning to look at him, I see the worry on his face. “We would be independent, more so than we ever were with your father in control.” I just nod my head at him, I understand the ramifications of my decision which is why I haven’t made it yet.
“It’s just a hand I’m considering, nothing is set in stone yet.” Rowan looks relieved as he lets out a breath, “you think I’d go making big decisions without your advice?” Rowan smirks as he shakes his head and playfully punches me on the arm.
“I’ve heard of Alpha’s doing risker things when their mate is threatened.” I don’t say anything as we carry on along the road, I know the warriors are waiting because the wind is carrying their smell to me.
As we draw closer to the border I notice Stuart and Ben. I didn’t recognise them from their names but now that I’m seeing them I realise I’ve met them before. These two helped with The Shalamayne when they attacked the Swiftmane.
“Stu, Ben, come on over.” Both of them smile as they step over the border shaking hands with both of them, I let Storm out a little so he can get a feel for them/
“They smell good.’ Storm tells me, it’s pretty much a seal of approval from my wolf.

“You guys know what we are going through?” Both of them nod, at the
same time.
“Fraction gave us the run down and then Rowan here called this.
morning to tell us what was going on.” Stuart tells me as he shakes Rowan’s hand, “I’m sorry that we weren’t here to help.” Ben nods as if agreeing with his friend.
“We were hoping to be brought in so we can help you out, with your number diminished I assume you must be knackered?” I laugh as Rowan coughs a little.
“Alright guys,” I reach my hand out to Rowan and prick my finger, handing back the knife I take the water bottle I didn’t even release he was holding. “Drink this and welcome to Everfur,” I let my blood drip into the water bottle, handing it to Stuart. He doesn’t hesitate, he instantly takes a big drink. He staggers a little as his Pack link is formed, I feel him instantly thread into the Pack links already in place.
“Ben is the better guard, want me to go and check with Heath?” I raise my eyebrow, he’s connected fast if he already knows Heath’s name.
“Know where you’re going?” Stuart nods his head as Ben takes the bottle.
“He’s already talking to me, apparently he talked to Rick about me.” I laugh as Stuart takes off towards the Pack house, Heath is still in the office while he heals up.
“You good Ben?” I look back to see Ben just looking at the water bottle with a sad expression as Rowan steps closer to him, “if you’re not sure it’s alright.” I nod my head so Ben can see there are no hard feelings.

generations.” I put my hand on the water bottle, he looks up as he loosens his grip.
“I get it, how about you help me out with this crap and then we see where you stand afterwards?” Ben looks relieved as he lets me take the bottle from him, “the offer will stand alright?”
“Thanks Alpha.” I step away from him, “Stuart was right, I am good at guarding. Do you need the human watching?”
“Yeah, Cas could use some sleep and we are a bit thin on the ground.” I nod my head as Rowan starts to lead us towards the Pack house.
“Did you get the warriors?” I smile down at Eva as I drop my joggers. and slide into the bed, she hasn’t even opened her eyes as she speaks.
“One joined, did you feel him?” Eva nods her head, I’m guessing that’s why she’s awake, it probably startled her. “The other is on the fence, he’s not sure about leaving his pack behind.” I pull her onto my chest as I wiggle down into the bed.
“We will just have to show him we are a family too.” I smile as I flick off the lamp and plunge us into darkness.
‘She said family.’ Storm whispers as I close my eyes and fall into the deepest sleep I have had in a long time.
