The substitute bride is a mute novel Chapter 44

As if time had stood still, the atmosphere in the car fell into an awkward silence.

Clark's hand remained grabbed onto Judy's hand as if he hadn't woke up from the dream. His cold, sharp eyes slowly wandered, and despite staring at Judy, a different face showed in front of him.

Judy was petrified, terrified to make any move.

"Mr. Reid, we've arrived at the hospital." Sebastian's voice brought Clark back to his senses. His eyes focused and he saw Judy's face. He ordered with a cold face, "Get off."

Judy dared not to say anything, quickly grabbed her tote bag, and exited the car.

She was relieved when the car finally left the hospital. With fear still lingering in her thoughts, she checked her arm that Clark grabbed and moved it around to confirm it wasn't fractured.

That Clark... he was equally terrifying even when he was asleep and dreaming.

But, Judy recalled he was calling a name earlier. Was it Sapphire?

In the car that just left the hospital, Clark was still in a trance.

Sebastian asked worryingly, "Did you have the nightmare again, Mr. Reid?"

Clark massaged his temple. His forehead was deeply creased from his brows drawing together, causing him to look even colder.

It had been many years since he last dreamed of the fire. Memory faded over time. Despite how hard Clark had tried to retain his memory, his memory about Sapphire slowly vanished as time passed.

He couldn't tell when was the last time he could remember her face clearly. All he could remember was his eyes blurred by tears as he was trapped in a burning fire with another woman. When Clark got closer to her, he would wake up as the dream stopped.

But strangely, Judy's face overlapped with the face he saw in the fire.

Clark clenched his fist. It was impossible for Judy to be Sapphire.
