"Do you need my help?"
the chaotic sky-devouring beast asked, eager to offer his assistance.
"No, do not worry. These corpses fear the law of reincarnation.
I know how to subdue them,"
Austin replied.
"Okay,"
the chaotic sky-devouring beast said, nodding.
A moment later, Austin defeated all the corpses.
They fell into the sea once more.
Wisps of black smoke flew around and fled into the void. They hovered above the sea, making the sky darken. Ghost-like cries filled the air, and moans of desperation could be heard from miles around. The scene was frightening to behold.
Austin and his companions traveled on. Along the way, they encountered more corpses.
Austin knew that his attainments in the law of reincarnation allowed him to easily defeat these corpses.
If he did not possess such skills, he would be severely hurt.
Time passed by.
In the blink of an eye, several months had passed since Austin and his companions entered the sea of reincarnation.
On one particular day, something peculiar happened.
The ancient ship had been sailing forward, intent on getting to its destination.
Suddenly, Austin and his companions heard several rumbling sounds.
They felt the sea beneath them tremble.
A terrifying burst of energy suddenly erupted from the sea.
"Look, there seems to be a shadow under the sea. It's coming up to the surface!"
the chaotic sky-devouring beast suddenly shouted.
The huge shadow slowly rose from the bottom of the black sea.
When it reached the surface, it opened its eyes. They locked in on Austin's, sending a chill down his spine.
The shadow struck fear into the hearts of those who saw it.
It stood on the sea surface, staring at the ancient ship with its cold eyes. The waves lapped beneath it, and the sky seemed to have gotten darker.
Austin frowned.
There was no denying that this strange shadow possessed a great power.
Its gaze alone could tear up the void and destroy everything in it.
A strong and unparalleled oppressive energy spread out, seeking to fill every corner. The horrifying force crushed the space, exerting pressure on everything it touched.
Orson and Donny almost fell to their knees from the crushing pressure. It was almost too great for them to bear.
Austin waved his hand to unleash strong reincarnation energy. It dashed toward Orson and Donny and enveloped them, offering them protection. The reincarnation energy took the pressure off their bodies, and it allowed them to stand upright again.
"Be careful. That guy is very powerful,"
the chaotic sky-devouring beast warned, looking worried.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Suddenly, continuous explosions erupted.
The shadow fixed its cold eyes on Austin and his companions.
Austin stood at the bow of the boat and looked into the eyes of the shadow, unwilling to back down.
The shadow remained motionless as well.
A moment later, a hoarse voice began to speak.
"Are you the successor of the reincarnation race?"
The voice was cold and thick, and it seemed to wrap around Austin and his companions.
"Yes, I am,"
Austin said, nodding.
"Good."
The shadow nodded at Austin, sizing him up.
"Then... Try your best,"
the shadow murmured. Austin was surprised to hear a hint of relief in the voice.
"Sir, may I know who you are?"
Austin asked.
He suddenly felt that the shadow no longer held any animosity toward him or his companions.
"Who am I?
What am I?
I don't even know myself.
Whoever enters the sea of reincarnation will see who he once was get blown away by the wind. I am only a shell of the man I once was,"
the shadow sighed, its voice quiet and melancholy.
The shadow then sighed once more.
Slowly, the shadow sank to the bottom of the sea.
"Sir! Sir!"
Austin shouted.
He still had many questions to ask.
