Chapter 5045
“Now that the princes are coming back, I fear that the Patel family won’t have a lot of time to relax.” Kairi sighed.
Harvey frowned. “Are you afraid of getting robbed off your position?”
Kairi shook her head.
“Not really. I’m a part of the main branch. Even if I’m not in charge, my position will still remain. At most, my words wouldn’t hold that much weight.
“However, we finally managed to band together with the Hermit Families. With this, we can finally fight the John family.
“Under such circumstances, the princes’ return will only cause infighting within the family…”
“Sigh. If we’re not careful, the Patel family will lose its strength and become the John family’s vassals in the future.”
Kairi was worried; she didn’t think that the Hermit Families would be able to go against the John family if the Patel family got in trouble.
After all, Blaine was from the John family.
Harvey pondered for a moment.
“Was Blaine the one spreading rumors of your grandfather dying?
“If it was, I’m sure he’ll have more cards prepared.
“A prince from one of your family’s branches might be working under him as well.”
Kairi froze; then, her expression turned grim.
“That’s right. Blaine has been asking the Patel family to listen to the Johns. He’s been requesting a marriage between the families for the longest time…” she said, after taking a deep breath.
“I knew he was trying to get involved with the family through the marriage, so I blatantly declined.
“He stopped talking about this as of now, so I thought that he already gave up. I didn’t think that…”
Kairi smiled at Harvey, then took out her phone.
“Thank you for this, Sir York. Now that I know who’s behind all this, it’ll be easy for me to handle the situation.
Harvey nodded.
“There’s no rush. We’ll talk about this tomorrow when Carver’s back.
“We’ll figure out his true intentions soon enough.”
Harvey thought about the situation.
“Since we’re here already, let’s have dinner together.”
“Sure.” Kairi happily wrapped her hands around Harvey’s harm before heading outside. “What a rare occasion for Sir York himself to ask me out! Don’t worry; even if you take me to a roadside stall or have cup noodles, I’ll be happy.”
Harvey was speechless.
‘Can’t we just have something normal instead…?’
After ten minutes or so, the two exited the clubhouse.
The Patel family bodyguards had someone start up the car, planning to drive Harvey and Kairi.
