Noelle knew she was sick. She knew Seline was no longer in this world, yet she kept hearing her voice lately.
Sometimes, Seline would talk to her as usual, chattering about the latest gossip. Other times, she would cry and ask Noelle why she didn't save her. At times, she would say she had willingly sacrificed herself and that Noelle shouldn't feel guilty.
But then there were times she would angrily call Noelle ungrateful, asking why she had to die, why it had to be her of all people?
These voices and images of Seline kept appearing in front of Noelle. They didn't even feel like hallucinations, because when Noelle reached out, she could almost feel Seline's presence.
But Seline was already gone.
Hendrix took Noelle to see a psychologist. But Noelle refused to talk to the psychologist. She wouldn't let anyone bring up Seline's name, yet she kept telling Hendrix that she wanted to see Marla and Marshall.
She knew they resented her, but she still wanted to see them. She even felt that only if they lashed out at her would she feel a little better.
"Wait a couple of days. I'll take you to see them once the weather is better," Hendrix said.
Noelle looked at him. "You're lying to me."
"I'm not."
"You're not going to take me to see them, are you?"
"If I promised you something, then you can be sure that I'll make it happen," Hendrix said firmly.
Noelle didn't say anything else. She just turned her head to stare blankly out of the window.
She had found out a couple of days ago that she was in Hendrix's newly built house. From where she was sitting, she could see the green trees in the yard.
But it was clearly winter—when hadn't the leaves fallen? Or had the new year already arrived? So, how long had it been since Seline was gone?
Noelle didn't know, nor was she willing to think about it anymore. She just closed her eyes wearily.

Like how the story is progressing now but why is the author only releasing 3 chapters at a time? this is torture😩😩...
Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
