For some reason, Hendrix found himself at Serene Street. Gripping his steering wheel, he glanced at the winding alleys ahead a few times but ultimately didn’t get out of the car. Instead, he turned the car around. 

Soon, he saw Noelle. She was walking out of a pharmacy with her hands in her pockets, eyes lowered, and head bowed 

The temperature in the city was very low today, so she was dressed in a black down jacket. She looked very soft and serene with her hair falling over her shoulders and the tip of her nose slightly red. 

As Hendrix watched her, he suddenly recalled what Beatrice had said to him earlier tonight. Indeed, he had no intention of using his marriage to gain anything, but back when the two families met to discuss his and Noelle’s marriage, Hendrix didn’t feel much resistance to the idea. 

He had always thought it was Beatrice’s words that had stirred something in him. So he figured, why not fulfill Gerald’s dying wish if marrying anyone was the same to him? But now, it seemed he might have been wrong. So, did he actually like Noelle? 

Hendrix stared at her back for a moment before finally deciding to get out of the car. But in the next moment, Saw Brandon running up from behind her. The two seemed to be arguing about something. 

Brandon tried to take something from Noelle’s hand, but she dodged him. He could only pull back his hand, gritting his teeth as he stared at her. 

“I can handle it myself!” said Noelle before turning and walking away.

This time, Brandon didn’t stop her. He stood there for a moment before finally turning around, and that was when he saw Hendrix’s car across the street. The window was already rolled down, and Hendrix was watching them through narrowed eyes. 

Brandon froze for a moment before marching up to the car. 

Hendrix made no other move. He simply stayed in his car and watched him approach step by step. 

“Mr. Freeman, what a coincidence,” Brandon greeted with a smile. “But given your status, this doesn’t seem like the kind of place you should be visiting, does it?” 

Hendrix chuckled lightly. “Since when do I need your permission to go anywhere?” 

The question left Brandon momentarily at a loss for words. But he quickly recovered and shot back with a smile, “I didn’t mean it like that. I’m just looking out for Noelle, and wouldn’t want her to be affected by you. 

“Affected by me?” 

“That’s right. Don’t you know that the last person Noelle wants to see right now is you?” Brandon said this with a smile, but Hendrix’s gaze immediately darkened. 

“It’s getting late, so I’ll take my leave.” Brandon smiled again and added, “But if you have time to spare, feel free to keep wandering around.” 

With that, he turned and walked away. 

Though Hendrix made no move to drive away, his grip on the steering wheel tightened involuntarily. Then, he turned to glance in the direction where Noelle had disappeared earlier. 

After returning home, Noelle went straight to the bathroom to wash up. When the doorbell rang, she thought she
