Chapter 15
Noelle jolted in shock. She instinctively covered up before she turned to Hendrix with a frown. He did not look any happier to see her.
Engaged in a staredown, they appeared more like enemies than a married couple.
“Please get out. I’m going to bed soon.” She finally opened her mouth.
To her surprise, Hendrix did not lose his temper. He decisively turned around. Before leaving, he reminded her, Keep your calendar empty around noon tomorrow.‘
She blurted out, “What for?”
Hendrix did not answer.
Staring at him, Noelle insisted. “If you’re thinking of making me apologize to Sandra, I won’t do that.”
He finally stopped in his tracks, confirming her guess.
She clenched her fist.
“Noelle, she’s your sister,” Hendrix remarked with a flat expression.
“I don’t have a sister. Besides, she fell down and hurt herself. Why would I apologize when I haven’t done anything wrong?”
“But did you do anything right by her?” He smirked. “How dare you get into a fight with your status?”
“Right! I’m nothing but a country bumpkin, am I not?” She snickered. “You’re right. I’m crude after a decade of living in the countryside. I’ll never become that elegant lady you wished for me to be.
“Mr. Freeman, I bet you’re regretting your decision now. After all, you won’t want a crass woman to bear your child.”
His eyes steeled. “What do you mean?”
“It means exactly what you think it is.” Noelle fixed her eyes on him. “Anyway, I won’t apologize to Sandra. If you’re ashamed of me, you could-”
“Noelle Swanson, think twice before you speak,” Hendrix cut her off.
At a loss for words, she silently curled up her fist.
Hendrix glanced at her. He left without saying another word, slamming the door shut. The ceiling shook from his aggressive action.
Noelle unfurled her fist at the moment and slowly sat in front of her desk. She pulled out the drawer to reveal a printed document–the divorce papers, from the obvious title.
She flipped to the last page, where she left her signature. Alas, she couldn’t muster up the courage to deliver it to Hendrix.
She knew very well that he despised her. He had only married her to fulfill his late father’s wish.

Like how the story is progressing now but why is the author only releasing 3 chapters at a time? this is torture😩😩...
Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
