When Sandra found Noelle, the latter had just returned from the supermarket. 

She was carrying bags in her hands, and the moment she saw Sandra, her grip instinctively tightened. 

Sandra stood on the steps, smiling brightly at her. “You’re back?” 

Noelle didn’t respond, simply meeting her gaze in silence. 

Sandra’s smile widened. “Surprised to see me?” 

“I just thought I’d come by to see how you’re doing,” Sandra said with a blink of her eyes. “Rix has been so busy lately, he probably doesn’t have time for you. As your sister and considering you’re all alone here, I thought I should check in on you.” 

“You can leave now,” Noelle replied, stepping around her and continuing forward. 

In the past, if Sandra had seen this kind of attitude from Noelle, she would have exploded in anger. But this time, she didn’t. Instead, she looked at Noelle and laughed. “Noelle, do you really think Hendrix is still here to back you up?” 

“Have you not realized it yet? You and Rix are impossible now.” 

Sandra’s words stopped Noelle in her tracks. She turned her head to look at Sandra. 

Sandra smiled at her. “His mother went through something catastrophic, and you think he won’t hate you for it?” 

Noelle clenched her fists, finally finding her voice. “What does this have to do with me?” 

“Do you even know what was in the document Madam Freeman left for you?” Sandra’s smile widened as she gave Noelle the answer directly. “It was a suicide note for Hendrix.” 

The moment Sandra finished speaking, all the expressions on Noelle’s face vanished. 

Sandra left quickly after that, and Noelle remained standing at the stairway for a long time. 

Just as someone from downstairs came up, the motion–activated light flickered on, followed by a sudden scream. 

“Are you kidding me? Why are you standing there like that? Trying to scare people or what?” the woman yelled irritably. 

Noelle didn’t respond, but the woman’s sharp voice seemed to snap her back to reality. She didn’t answer, simply stiffly heading back toward her apartment. 

The red–haired woman, however, quickly followed her. “Hey, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? And your boyfriend… I haven’t seen his car around lately. Did he get a new one? Though I don’t think I’ve seen any other luxury cars parked nearby, either.” 

Noelle didn’t acknowledge her words. She punched in the door code and stepped inside. 

Her cold demeanor left the woman momentarily speechless After a moment, she muttered, “Acting like a freaking zombie. She must have been dumped!‘ 

This sentence made Noelle frown, and she looked toward the woman. 

Noelle wasn’t particularly short, and her naturally cool demeanor gave her an air of authority. When her eyes lifted, they carried a sharp intensity that made the woman’s voice falter and die in her throat. 

Noelle didn’t stay longer. After that cutting glance, she turned and closed the door.
