The ballroom was filled with a lively buzz in the air. Despite the rush, everything had gone smoothly, and the wedding was turning out just fine. 

Now, they had reached the moment of the evening–the exchange of rings, an event that would mark the climax of the night. 

Sandra looked at the man standing before her and asked suddenly, “Do you know whose idea it was to have the wedding today?” 

Maxwell didn’t answer. 

Sandra smirked. “It was actually Noelle’s idea. Don’t you still have feelings for her? And look what happened. She didn’t hesitate to drag you down just to spite me.” 

Maxwell remained silent, as if he hadn’t heard a word. He simply continued with the ceremony, slipping the ring onto her finger. 

Sandra clenched her teeth in frustration. “Does she think that just because I’m getting married, I’m no longer part of the Swanson family? Well, she’s wrong. I agreed to this only because I wanted my dad to see how much I’ve been wronged. 

Just wait. I’m going to take back what’s mine. So, tell me. Are you willing to-” 

Before she could finish, a series of high–pitched screams suddenly echoed from the side. She immediately turned her head 

Matilda had barely managed to make it to the wedding tonight. The pain had taken such a toll on her that she looked like a shadow of herself. Now, she had passed out into Craig’s arms. 

The crowd around them stood up in alarm, and Craig began shouting frantically for a doctor. As the most “dutiful” daughter, Sandra stood frozen, her fists clenched as she watched the chaos unfold in the ballroom. 

She had known it all along–there was no way her wedding was going to end smoothly. At that thought, Sandra quickly turned and began searching for another familiar face. It didn’t take long before she spotted Noelle standing at the entrance. 

Noelle seemed to have just realized what was happening, yet she didn’t move closer. She just stood there, stunned, staring at the chaos unfolding before her. 

It felt like an eternity before she finally seemed to snap out of her daze. She clenched and unclenched her fists before walking over. 

“What a fake and evil woman!” cursed Sandra internally. Just before Noelle could get any closer, she threw herself 

at Matilda. 

“Mom!” 

Matilda passed away on the third day after Sandra’s wedding. 

The Quinlan family finally expressed their dissatisfaction. At the memorial service, the only representative from the family was Maxwell, who had been sent to deliver the condolence gift. 

At that moment, Noelle was the only one standing vigil at the funeral home. Craig was unwell, and Sandra had been taken to rest due to being “overcome with grief“.
