Noelle didn’t hear what Mabel said next, because just then, someone stepping out of the elevator grabbed her wrist and pulled her forward with such decisiveness that she barely had time to reach out. By the time she came to her senses, he had already pulled her back into the room.
Judging by the smile on her face, Mabel had been happy to see who had arrived. But as the words “Mr. Freeman” were about to leave her mouth, her expression froze, and her voice got caught in her throat when she saw the person standing next to him.

“Apologize to her now,” Hendrix interrupted sharply.
Mabel froze.
“What? You want me to apologize to her? No way! It’s not like I said anything wrong!” She gritted her teeth. “Mr. Freeman, Mrs. Freeman has been in bed for so long–how can you still be involved with this woman? If Mrs. Freeman Senior finds out about this-
“Forget it,” Hendrix suddenly said. “Whether you apologize or not, it probably won’t matter to her. But I can tell you something now–you’re fired.”
Hendrix spoke so quickly that Mabel didn’t even have time to react. It took her a while to process, and then, it finally dawned on her.
“F–Fired? Mr. Freeman, what do you mean by that?”
“It means exactly what the word means. Not just you, but your son and nephews, too. None of you need to come in to work from today onward.”
“I… Mr. Freeman, do you even know what you’re doing? I’ve worked for your family for 30 years. I helped raise you! H–How could you do this to me?” asked Mabel in a trembling voice.

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
