Compared to the previous evening, Javier’s attitude was noticeably better today. 

After the customary few questions, he assured Noelle that the proposal would be reviewed promptly and that she would receive a response within a week. This timeline was considered remarkably quick in the industry, and Noelle suspected Hendrix had something to do with it. 

However, she didn’t mention it in front of others. Instead, she smiled warmly and promised to buy Javier dinner 

next time. 

Javier chuckled in response, agreeing good–naturedly. 

As they left the building, even Oliver couldn’t help but remark, “Mr. Mueller seems much easier to talk to than the rumors suggest. And honestly, the way he talked–it felt more like polite formalities. After all, he’s the president. Whether the project gets approved is entirely up to him, isn’t it?” 

“We still need to follow the process,” Noelle replied absentmindedly, her attention focused on the news on her phone. 

It wasn’t until she finished speaking that she realized the car had fallen into an unusual silence. She looked up curiously, only to find Oliver staring at her. 

“Ms. Swanson, why do you look so confident? Weren’t you saying before that this was a tough nut to crack and you weren’t sure how to tackle it? Did something happen overnight? Or did some miracle worker swoop in to help us?” 

Noelle knew Oliver could be a bit nosy, but there was no malice in his questions. 

She didn’t feel like bantering with him and was about to tell him to start the car when Oliver spoke again, “But whoever this miracle worker is, they’ve been really good to us 

“You know, Mr. Mueller isn’t exactly the easiest person to deal with. Who knows what strings they pulled behind the scenes?” 

After Oliver finished, Noelle fell silent. 

After a few seconds, she turned to Oliver, her gaze sharp and pointed. “Go on. Spill it. What did Hendrix bribe you with?” 

“No way,” Oliver retorted instinctively, not even pausing to think. 

But Noelle didn’t say another word, simply staring at him. 

To be honest, while Noelle was already Elm Group’s general manager and had picked up a fair share of business tactics, her presence still lacked a bit of edge. Yet her bright piercing eyes had a way of locking on to someone, and when she stared at Oliver, he found himself unable to say a single word. 

In the end, he could only mumble hesitantly, “My girlfriend works at Amity Group…” 

As soon as the words left his mouth, Noelle’s expression darkened 

Sensing her displeasure, Oliver quickly added, “But don’t worry, Ms. Swanson I didn’t reveal anything about you I swear. I just thought Mr. Freeman seems to treat you well and wanted to put in a good word for him. That’s all.” 

Noelle said nothing. Instead, she leaned against the car window and rubbed her temples. 

“Ms. Swanson, you’re not going to fire me, are you?” Olive asked cautiously. 

Noelle couldn’t help but chuckle. “Feeling guilty, are you? What information did you sell to be this scared?”

“So,” Noelle interrupted, “those internal updates about Amity Group before, were they all from your girlfriend?” 

Oliver hesitated for a moment before slowly nodding. 

“And? Are you hiding something else from me?” 

“No, really, there’s nothing else. If I were keeping anything from you, I wouldn’t have spent half the day with you analyzing the situation on Amity Group.” 

As Oliver spoke, something seemed to suddenly occur to him. “Oh, right, Ms. Swanson. Did you know Mrs. Freeman has already woken up?”
