Noelle maintained a calm facade, but as she completed the final stroke of her signature, the pen’s tip unintentionally tore through the paper. She didn’t bother to fix it. Instead, she tossed the signed document at Hendrix. 

As for Hendrix’s reaction? She didn’t bother to check. After ossing the document onto his lap, she turned and reached for the door. 

But before she could step out, Hendrix’s voice came from behind, “Where are you going? Let me drive you. Oh, and since the agreement is signed, let’s take care of the marriage registration tomorrow. I’ll pick you up in the morning, okay?” 

Noelle didn’t respond, nor did she reject him. Instead, she decisively closed the car door with a loud thud. The car fell into silence once more. 

Hendrix gripped the steering wheel, his eyes lingering on Noelle’s retreating figure for a moment before he finally picked up the document she had thrown at him. 

There were two copies, and Noelle had signed her name on both. Though she hadn’t taken the copy meant for her. Maybe she forgot, or maybe… she simply didn’t want to see it. Either way, it didn’t matter. She had agreed, and that was all that mattered. 

Hendrix glanced at the documents for a moment before carefully putting them away. He then started the car and drove back to Freeman Manor. 

It wasn’t particularly late, so both Ophelia and Beatrice were still awake. 

Since the incident last time, their relationship had plummeted to an all–time low. 

Ophelia resented Beatrice for tarnishing the family’s reputation, while Beatrice had stopped caring entirely about Ophelia’s opinions. Though they lived under the same roof the two barely exchanged a word with each other anymore. 

Hendrix’s sudden return that evening took both women by surprise. 

Ophelia slammed down the cutlery she was holding onto the table. “Oh, so you still know the way back? Do you have any idea how many calls I had people make to you?” 

“Sorry, Grandma. Things have been very busy lately, and I didn’t want to disturb your rest by coming back too late. Please forgive me.” 

His attitude in admitting fault was impeccable. 

Looking at him, Ophelia was momentarily at a loss for words. In the end, she simply pursed her lips. 

Hendrix calmly took a seat at the dining table. “It’s a good thing that both of you are here, because I have an announcement to make.” 

Ophelia shot a look at Beatrice, who appeared just as puzzled, before asking, “What is it?” 

“I’m getting married,” Hendrix said with a faint smile. “We’re going to register the marriage tomorrow.” 

His tone was steady, but the news landed like a bombshell, leaving both Ophelia and Beatrice wide–eyed in shock. 

Beatrice frowned deeply, while Ophelia was quicker to reac “Why are you suddenly getting married? Which family’s daughter is it? Is it the one I mentioned to you before-”
