Hendrix glanced down at the hand gripping his collar before speaking again, “Losing your temper at me won’t change anything. The money is gone. Even if you smash my entire office, it won’t come back. But if you’re willing to do what I say, I might consider helping you make a comeback.”
Craig frowned.
Hendrix continued, “I have a shipyard in Creston. If you’re interested, I can give it to you and gradually supply resources. It may not bring you back to the heights you once had, but at the very least, you won’t be left without a job.”
Craig didn’t say anything, but his grip on Hendrix’s collar slowly loosened.
His chest was still heaving, but his voice gradually steadied. “So? What do you want me to do?”
Hendrix lowered his gaze. “Do you really think Maxwell did this alone? Sandra is his wife–there’s no way she didn’t know anything.”
The moment he finished speaking, Craig’s expression changed.
“You mean…
“Yeah. Since they’re husband and wife, some responsibilities should be shared,” Hendrix said slowly. “Rest assured that once you’ve successfully carried out my instructions for you, I’ll make sure you live in luxury for the rest of your life.”
“But…” Craig’s heart pounded wildly.
It took him a long moment before he finally found his voice his tone stiff. “Weren’t you and Sandra….”
“What about me and her?” Hendrix’s expression remained blank.
Though Hendrix’s face showed nothing, when his gaze lifted, Craig saw the endless coldness in his eyes.
“No, I just meant that you two grew up together. I thought you were… good friends.”
That was all Craig could say.
But Hendrix’s expression remained utterly indifferent.

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
