The ambulance quickly brought Noelle to the hospital. The bleeding on her face had stopped, but the doctor still needed to stitch up her wound.
She couldn’t feel pain on that part of her face after anesthesia had been administered. She could, however, feel the doctor’s movement–the way the needle and thread pierced through her skin, clear and distinct.
Since it was a minor procedure, they conducted it in the emergency room.
Although the door was closed, Noelle kept her eyes fixed on it. As for what she was waiting for, she wasn’t even sure herself.
But by the time the doctor finished, Hendrix still hadn’t appeared, whereas Dylan had been waiting outside the entire time.
The moment he saw Noelle come out, he immediately approached her and asked, “Are you okay? Does it hurt?”
Noelle glanced at him and shook her head.
“That’s good. Let me take you home.”
The moment Dylan said those words, Noelle stopped in her tracks. Then, she slowly lifted her head to look at him. Something in her gaze made Dylan jolt, but he quickly put on a smile. “What’s the matter?”
“Don’t you need to deal with Jean? She should be in police custody now. You-”
“Nope,” Dylan cut her off without a second thought. His voice was tinged with impatience, or rather indifference. This was a side of him Noelle had never seen before. Yet, for some reason, she wasn’t the least bit surprised by it.
Then, as if sensing what Noelle was thinking, Dylan quickly changed to another expression as he added, “Her father will handle it.”
Noelle didn’t respond.
“But this time, she targeted you. Surely Hendrix isn’t going to let her off easy, right? Speaking of which, why didn’t he come tonight?” he asked.
The moment those words fell, Noelle suddenly laughed. “I don’t know why he didn’t show up, but I do know why Jean acted so recklessly.”
Dylan fell silent.

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
