The Sway and Slide of Love novel Chapter 553

Hendrix wasn't sure how long he had been asleep. His mind remained in a constant haze. Sometimes, he felt unbearably freezing cold. Other times, he was burning up.

In the midst of it all, he even thought he saw Noelle. She was frowning at him, her expression tinged with impatience.

Instinctively, he reached out to grab her, but the moment he moved, she stepped back. The look of disgust in her eyes was unmistakable. Hendrix could only slowly withdraw his hand.

He didn't know how much time had passed before he finally opened his eyes.

The sky outside had already darkened. He was still lying in bed, the cooling patch on his forehead now the same temperature as his body. He was soaked with sweat, as if he had truly been wandering through a desert.

Slowly, he turned his head, only to notice someone lying on the small couch nearby. She was curled up under a bathrobe.

The moonlight streaming through the window bathed her in a soft glow, illuminating her features clearly—her long lashes, her flawless skin, and her full, tempting lips.

Hendrix stared at her face for a long time. Then, it hit him—there was a full moon tonight.

After a brief pause, he got up from the bed. He wanted to move closer to get a better look at her. But Noelle snapped open her eyes in the next second.

Their gazes met, and Hendrix stopped in his tracks.

Noelle had just woken up, her thoughts still hazy. She stared at Hendrix for a few seconds before finally registering his presence.

"You're awake."
