Dylan had told Noelle he would call her at 11:00 pm. But it wasn't until midnight that she finally received his call.
"Is Rosie asleep?" he asked.
Noelle walked over to the balcony attached to the living room with her phone before answering, "Yup."
"Sorry. I was going to call you around ten something, but something came up, and I've been busy until now."
"It's okay. I was still awake anyway," Noelle replied quickly.
"Okay."
Then, silence suddenly fell between them.
The quiet stretched on just a little too long—long enough for both of them to sense that something felt off.
Dylan was the first to break it. "Did something happen?"
"No," Noelle answered hastily, then asked, "Are you still really busy lately?"
"Yeah, more or less. It's mainly dealing with some shareholders pulling out. You know how it is—the company hasn't officially gone bankrupt yet, but if they all pull out at once, it'll have a more direct impact. So I—"
Dylan's voice trailed off. Then, he chuckled and said, "Why am I even telling you all this? It's nothing, really. Just standard procedures."
"Are you having a hard time lately?" Noelle suddenly asked.
Dylan didn't respond.
She was about to ask more, but he cut in, "What's really going on?"
This time, his tone carried a note of certainty.
Noelle slowly bit her lip. Then, she said, "Nothing's going on. I just suddenly felt like I owe you an apology. After all, it's because of me that you're going through so much right now."

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
