When Hendrix was working, he always carried an air of sharpness and seriousness, making him look unapproachable. Even Noelle hesitated for a moment before approaching.
Hendrix heard the movement and quickly looked over. Everything had happened so suddenly that his expression hadn't yet shifted back to normal.
It wasn't until his eyes met Noelle's that his demeanor softened slightly. "Why are you here? Didn't I tell you to go to sleep first?"
Noelle didn't answer. Instead, she placed the glass of water in front of him. "What's going on?" she asked.
Hendrix glanced at the glass of water but didn't say anything.
Noelle frowned. "Well?"
"Erwin's been arrested," Hendrix finally told her.
Noelle was confused.
"He's been staying in the country for a while," Hendrix explained slowly. "A few days ago, he even threw a party. And just last night, someone ended up dead."
A frown immediately appeared on Noelle's face. "And then?"
"The person died from an overdose."
Noelle's eyes widened. "You mean…"
Hendrix let out a faint laugh. "Yes, it's exactly what you're thinking."
Noelle fell silent, her lips pressed together as she stared at him.
As if he could read Noelle's mind, Hendrix quickly shut down any doubts. "I never touched that stuff. He's invited me before, but I know where to draw the line. And after all this time living together, you should know whether I've used it before."
"Go to sleep," he said shortly.
Noelle remained silent, simply frowning at him.
As if sensing her thoughts, Hendrix stood up and ruffled her hair. "Don't worry. I'll be fine. Besides, there's nothing you can do here. So, go to bed, okay?"
Noelle knew he was right—she couldn't do anything to help. But right now, she just wanted to be there for him.
However, it was clear Hendrix didn't need her company. In fact, her presence might only add to his stress. So, she nodded reluctantly.
As she turned to leave, Hendrix's phone rang again. Noelle glanced back and saw that he had already answered the call—his face once again stern and cold.
Back in the bedroom, Noelle couldn't fall asleep. But she didn't want to add to Hendrix's burden right now, so she squeezed her eyes shut and tried to force herself to go to sleep.

Like how the story is progressing now but why is the author only releasing 3 chapters at a time? this is torture😩😩...
Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
