Back then, Dylan had seemed like just an accomplice, someone who had acted out of necessity because the people involved were his family.
But if he had truly been pure and upright, he would never have chosen to help them in the first place.
When the incident occurred, he wouldn't have tried so hard to cover it up and salvage the situation.
Power and influence were like addictive poisons—once one got a taste of it, one always wanted more. But there were only so many spots at the top, and the only way to climb higher seemed to be pulling others down.
Because of Noelle, the person Dylan saw standing in his way was Hendrix. Moreover, because of Hendrix, Dylan had lost something important to him. So, it was only natural for him to hate Hendrix.
Noelle even suspected that Dylan's later obsession with being with her was partly because he wanted to win against Hendrix. After all, in terms of business tactics, he might not have been able to compete with Hendrix, but what if he could win her over?
In a way, wouldn't that mean he had defeated Hendrix? And that was why, when Ophelia passed away, Dylan had insisted on taking Noelle to the funeral. He wanted to openly declare to everyone he had obtained what Hendrix couldn't.
Noelle thought this through and calmly laid it all out for Dylan, as if she were just a detached observer stating something that had nothing to do with her.
"So, don't you dare play the victim," Noelle said. "In fact, you might have never even loved me. What you loved was the feeling of defeating Hendrix."
As soon as Noelle finished speaking, Dylan slowly loosened his grip on her arm.
"That's truly heartbreaking," he said. "No matter what, we were once together. We even almost got married. So, how can you say I never loved you?"
"Then, did you know I was also in Tilwick at that time? Did you know there was a real chance I could have died in that fire? If Nathan killed Hendrix, do you think he would have spared me and Rosie?"

Like how the story is progressing now but why is the author only releasing 3 chapters at a time? this is torture😩😩...
Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
