Nolan had woken up in the dream, and Maisie’s hanging heart finally landed. She rubbed against the hand and fell even deeper into the dream with him by her side.

The sky was turning white in the distance, and the bright light made Maisie slowly open her eyes.

“Nolan?” she shouted, but there was no response from the ward.

Maisie dashed into the corridor and stopped a nurse who happened to pass by.” Have you seen the patient here?”

The nurse was dumbfounded. “Isn’t he at…”

She looked into the ward, and her face turned pale. “Where is he?”

The nurse hurriedly reported Nolan was missing at the nurses’ station.

Maisie looked into the empty ward, and her heart trembled. She seemed to have remembered something and rushed toward the elevator

It was late autumn, and the morning breeze was chilly. The lawn and the stone path were covered with fallen leaves.

Maisie looked at every patient who walked past her, trying her best to look for the familiar figure.

She knew that he had woken up and that he must still be in the hospital.
