~River’s Point of View~

My feet immediately moved to follow the sweetest smell imaginable and Godfrey suddenly appeared in front of me, blocking the door.

“Move!”

I growled at him and my brothers instantly grabbed one of my arms and pulled me to a chair.

“What the fuck, where is she?!”

I did everything to try and get up. They were NOT going to keep me from her!

“You can see her, but there are some things you need to know first,” Godfrey said.

Hunter began to ramble on with what happened. I absolutely hated listening to Hunter tell a story, he was pokey and always added details that didn’t matter. He was keeping me from my mate and I was about to throw his ass out the window. I had waited my whole life for this moment.

“So, she can’t stay at headquarters, this is no place for a pup, I’m not running a daycare and of course I would never trust all the unmated mutts running about,” Godfrey said, with a snort.

Skyler growled at that insult, and Godfrey smiled, his devilish grin. It made Godfrey giddy to call us mutts or dogs, it was literally the funniest thing in the world to him and he got upset if we didn’t give him the reaction he was looking for. I was long onto his game.

“I’ve been thinking about it all night, and I think she should stay with our parents and our sisters, they live in a good area, we could get a place nearby,” Hunter said.

“Fuck that! She’s living with us, we’ll get a place and set it up, whatever she needs, we are the only ones who should care for her,” Sklyer said, defiant.

“River, talk some sense into them will you, you’re the smart one,” Godfrey said, looking bored.

Hunter growled at that insult as well. What a bunch of crap, I don’t give a shit about all this banter!

I couldn’t think about anything but seeing her, it was making my wolf insane. I was literally under the same roof as my mate, the only thing I have ever truly wanted, and these idiots were keeping me from her.

“What’s going to happen to Ellie if you have a rut? If there’s a full moon? Your dogs won’t be able to control themselves, they’ll have to mate with her, and you all very well know this,” Godfrey said again, looking like he’d rather be anywhere else.

“We’ll figure it out, we wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize ourselves … or her. There’s nobody that can keep her safe like us. She literally has nobody in her life, but the Goddess finally brought her to us, there’s no way I’m letting her go. She risked it all to run away from Gunner, and the Goddess put Hunter in her path,” Skyler said, jumping to his feet and balling his fists.

“I can’t think, listen to you idiots and smell my mate at the same time, I need to see her, NOW and you’re not going to stop me, we’ll talk about this later,” I said, getting to my feet.

“No, you’ll all talk about it NOW,” Pat said, appearing in the doorway.

Fuck this, I am not waiting! I went toward the door, and again, Godfrey blocked me.
