Quiana plopped down at the computer tucked away in the corner. Her fingers danced over the keys. Blue waves, like heartbeats, flickered and moved across the screen.
Hugo cracked open a cold beer, took a small sip, and asked with a hint of nervousness, “Quiana, did you catch today’s news?”
Quiana raised an eyebrow. “What news?”
Hugo’s lips tightened a bit. “Winona did an interview this morning, claiming you two are twins…
The video interview went viral as soon as it dropped.
Quiana squinted, leaned back, and glanced at Hugo next to her. After a beat, she propped her chin on her hand and drawled, “If you want to claim her, I can bring her back.”
Hugo was taken aback for a second, and then pouted, “Why would I? Just so she can look down on me and nag every day? Sounds like a pain!”
Quiana let out a soft chuckle and didn’t add anything more.
Beyond the slums, Leo and his crew returned to Julius, reporting. “Mr. Hawley, we’ve got nothing.”
The Seraphic’s trail was like a ghost, and their hacker was top–notch. Even with a thorough search, no suspicious characters turned up. Julius even reached out to the Divine Alliance, but still, no leads.
Julius let out a soft cough, fiddling with a small white bottle. With his eyes down and an inscrutable look, he murmured,
“Let’s head back”
“Julius!” Just as they were about to get in the car, a blue–haired guy dashed in from the alley, looking charming and brimming with excitement. “I saw your future wife!”
Julius’s eyebrows twitched.
Shane raised an eyebrow. “You talking about Quiana?”
Zack nodded with a mysterious air. I’ve heard all these legendary stories about her, Julius. Want to hear them?”
“You… Shane began.
“Not interested.” Julius waved off the idea.
Shane was a bit curious, but before he could say more, Julius cut him off.
Julius didn’t even look at them. As Leo lowered the ramp, he wheeled himself into the car, radiating a gloomy and detached vibe that seemed to create a barrier, making it hard to sense any human emotions from him.
Zack muttered under his breath, “He’s always so aloof, like he doesn’t want anything. Might as well be a priest.”
Shane shook his head, chuckling. “If Julius heard you, one dose of his secret concoction and you’d be speechless for half a
year.
Zack recalled last year’s incident when his loose lips got him a dose of Julius‘ pill that left him mute for three months. He quickly zipped his lips, thinking silence was worse than death.
