The True Heiress Slays (Quiana) novel Chapter 59

Leo was just as riled up, ready to follow Zack’s lead.

Shane stepped in, his voice stern, “Guys, we need to keep our heads. Our top priority is locating The Seraphic!” They had solid leads that The Seraphic was aboard the ship and had triggered the explosion.

Zack’s frustration was evident. “We can’t just stand here while Julius is in such pain.”.

Shane’s jaw set firm. “To save Julius, we have to find The Seraphic first. That’s our best shot!”

Zack swore, kicking the wall in his anger. And then he was off, determined to take action.

“Zack!” Shane called after him.

But Zack was already out the door, resolved to track down The Seraphic on his own. “I’m going after The Seraphic,” he shouted back, his footsteps echoing down the hall.

Quiana dodged out of Zack’s path as he barreled past the door.

Hugo, lurking around the corner, spoke in a hushed tone, “Did you hear? Keith slipped Julius a drink. He barely touched it and now he’s down for the count.”

Quiana’s brow arched in curiosity, “What was in it?”

Hugo just shook his head, a mix of confusion and concern on his face. “Word is, The Seraphic’s behind the explosion on the ship. They’re grilling everyone as we speak.”

The talk of The Seraphic showing up had everyone on edge. People who were clamoring to get off the ship are now hanging back. With the mysterious figure and the blast, things are definitely not adding up.

Edith threw out a wild theory. “You think someone’s flying The Seraphic’s flag to pull a con?”

Quiana’s eyes narrowed, pondering the recklessness of such a move.

Hugo, his focus still on Julius’s predicament, questioned, “Quiana, you gonna lend a hand?”

Quiana’s forehead creased with indecision. As a doctor, she was inclined to help, but with Julius involved, she wondered if it was the right call. She was on the fence.

The room was tense, Julius’s forehead veins popping as he wrestled his hand free from the iron grip and fished out a tiny porcelain bottle from his pocket–the pill Quiana had once sold him on.

Shane’s face fell as he figured out Julius’s move. He made a beeline for Julius, shouting, “Julius, don’t!”

But Shane was a second too late. Julius had already bitten the cork off and downed the black pill Quiana had called a “Mystic Pill.”
