Chapter 75
Her words were dripping with defiance.
“You–Simon’s hand twitched as though he wanted to strike her, but the sight of all the cameras stayed in his hand.
Mandy was heartbroken. “Quiana, you’ve disappointed us.”
“Dad, Mom,” Winona interjected, her
er voice gentle, “Maybe Quiana just made a mistake in the heat of the moment…”
“Winona, there’s no need to defend her.” Mandy pulled Winona back and turned to Quiana. “We brought you back not to embarrass the Larson family”
Had they known Quiana would pull a stunt like this, they would never have brought her home.
Grinding his teeth, Simon ordered, “Quiana, turn yourself in now!”
Quiana looked at them. “What if I don’t want to?
Simon’s fists clenched. “You will, whether you like it or not!” The Larsons can’t afford this shame.
Quiana’s lips curled in a cold smirk. “I’m not leaving. If you want me gone, call the cops”
“You…” Simon’s face twisted in fury, his hand raised as if to slap her, but his wrist was suddenly seized.
“Ju… Julius Hawley? Why is he here?” The crowd murmured…
“Quiana is his fiancée, Is he going to cover for her?”
“Why would the Hawley family care about someone like Quiana?”
No one knew when these people came in.
Juliussat in his wheelchair, his expression as cold as beautiful. The aura of illness around him carried an evil vibe, making everyone’s skin–tingle as they
instinctively backed away.
Simon turned to him, “Mr. Hawley, you can’t seriously be thinking ofshielding her.”
Julius lifted his gaze, impassive. “And if I am?”
Simon pulled his arm away, his face dark. “Quiana’s committed a serious crime–she’s a fugitivel”
Winona spoke up, her tone soft but firm. “Mr. Hawley, I know you care about my sister, but harboring a fugitive is a crime, too.
Zack, standing beside them, his eyes void of warmth. “You all act like she’s committed some unforgivable crime. Where’s your proo!?”
“Those photos are proof!
“Being taken away by detectives and ending up in the Justice Bureau–what more evidence do you need?” Someone retorted.
Quiana lifted her eyelids to glance around and then stood up slowly, “All right, let’s get started.”
“Get started?” someone asked, confused.
