Chapter 355 

Yvette’s sweet call almost made Aaron melt inside. Scratching his head awkwardly, he felt a bit shy. 

Aaron replied, “Oh, Yvette, there’s no need to be so polite. It was just a small favor from a friend, nothing major. But you, on the other hand, have such a kind heart. 

“That beauty salon was shady, trying to steal your brand’s secret formula, and yet you didn’t call the police. You used their own tricks against them to get it back,” Aaron said, feeling quite indignant. “If it were me, I’d make those sneaky thieves pay. 

Yvette forced a smile, with her helplessness obvious. “The manager of that salon is an old acquaintance of Shakira, and I didn’t want to make things too awkward. Shakira is caught in the middle, and it would be really difficult for her. 

Hearing how Yvette was willing to put herself in Shakira’s position, Aaron’s anger only increased. “Why do you bother with all this, Yvette? Shakira is the type who holds grudges and is really ruthless. Besides, she has nothing to do with the Nelson family anymore.” 

“But no matter what, she’s still my brothers‘ sister and my parents‘ daughter. Even if she treats me badly, I don’t want everyone to feel sad.” Saying this, Yvette lifted her face, with her pure features still radiant and beautiful. 

Like a resilient bindweed, she remained dignified and true to herself, despite facing many setbacks. 

Aaron looked at her and heaved a sigh. “Well, you really have the same temperament as Jayden. Even without being blood- related, you’re more like his sister than Shakira. Even if Shakira was reborn, she couldn’t compare to you, the true princess of the Nelson family.” 

Yvette’s eyes curved into a smile as she playfully said, “Aaron, please keep this a secret for me. I don’t want my family to worry.” 

Aaron waved his hand spiritedly. “It’s no big deal.” 

Yvette’s smile grew even brighter. “Thank you, brother.” 

Aaron took a call and quietly paid the bill. After saying goodbye to Yvette, he left the café. Watching his departure, Yvette let her fake smile fall into a frown. 

Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at it and her expression soured further. Picking up, she heard Lago’s nervous voice. “How did it go, daughter? Is everything sorted out?” 

Yvette clenched her fists. “I asked you to handle it, but you didn’t do anything. If I hadn’t arranged the power cut beforehand, I would have been in big trouble.” 

On the other end, Lago hesitated, not daring to argue. He tried to appease Yvette. “Sweetheart, calm down. Daddy’s old now, not as capable as you. I admit, you’re the one who planned everything so well.” 

“Ha, what else can you say besides that? Stop flattering me. The most urgent thing now is to deal with Mitchell.” 

Lago was just as worried. “He was taken to Harborview Medical Center. Your mom and I have tried everything, but we honestly don’t know what else to do. Sweetheart, could you think of something else?” 

Yvette really wanted to tell her dad off. How did she end up with such useless parents? 

Yvette was panting slightly. “What else can we think of? Jasmin’s people are guarding, and with the hospital’s surveillance, there’s just no way.” 

On the other end of the line, Jessie began sobbing anxiously after hearing Yvette’s answer. “No way? We’re finished. If Mitchell wakes up, won’t all our family’s efforts over the years be for nothing?”

Jessie felt like her world was falling apart, crying out in despair. Listening to it all was making Yvette extremely irritated, and thinking about the possibility Jessie mentioned only added to her frustration 

Now that she had come this far, Yvette had completely defeated Shakira. She wasn’t going to let Mitchell take everything away from her. 

Yvette’s eyes were filled with dark greed. “No way, I won’t let Mitchell ruin me.” 

Shakira knew she wouldn’t be able to return to work at the company soon, so she handed the project over to Maris to follow up. After finishing the handover, she stayed in the ward and started taking it easy. 

Walter went to the room next door to do some work, while Xanthe visited her every day for a couple of hours. The rest of the time, Shakira would get bored and play games on her phone If her phone died, she’d just use Walter’s. 

Today, without noticing, she drained Walter’s phone battery too Shakira turned off the screen and plugged it in to charge. Feeling a bit curious, she decided to go next door and see what Walter was doing. 

To her surprise, when she lightly pushed the door open, the room was completely empty. ‘What happened?‘ she wondered. 

Feeling puzzled, Shakira asked a nurse and learned that Walter was in the rehab room. Her curiosity got the better of her, and before she knew it, she had made her way there. 

Looking through the small glass window on the door, she saw Walter inside, using a support tool to take each step forward. Suddenly, his left knee seemed to give way, and his tall frame nearly fell to the floor. 

Just as Shakira was about to push the door open, she saw Walter hooking his elbow around the side rail, barely keeping himself from falling. After a few seconds, he steadied himself and continued moving forward. 

She didn’t know how long he’d been practicing inside, but his back was drenched in sweat, and he looked visibly strained. Watching him like this, Shakira felt indescribable emotions bubbling up inside her. Her heart felt tight, and little bursts of emotion surfaced. 

Brian couldn’t stand to watch inside and tried persuading Walter to rest a few times, but was eventually told off. He came out looking numb and bumped into Shakira, whose eyes had unknowingly turned red. 

“Ms. Nelson?” He realized his own eyes were wet and quickly turned 

away. 

Shakira took a deep breath. “He says he’s working every day, but he actually comes here, doesn’t he?” 

Brian stood still for a moment before nodding firmly. “Mr. Lopez doesn’t want you to worry.”
