Chapter 202: The Scapegoat
The car started and began to head back the way it came. Without thinking, Charlotte glanced at the car window, and her eyes widened.
“Wait!” She quickly called out, signaling the driver to stop.
Then, she rolled down the window as fast as possible. Not far away, a black Mercedes was parked by the side of the road. A tall figure was emerging
from the car.
If Charlotte wasn’t mistaken, this person was none other than Chester – Olivia’s older brother!
Why did he appear near the police station? Charlotte’s intuition told her that Chester’s presence here was very likely related to Edward’s situation.
ld it be that he also learned about Edward’s situation and came to check on it? However, the Bellerose Family had never looked kindly upon them. He could Chester be so benevolent? It could only mean one thing-
Charlotte’s eyes darkened slightly. A rough guess was taking shape in her mind.
“Wait for me here; I need to use the restroom,” Charlotte told the driver as she made up an excuse and immediately got out of the car.
She briskly walked to a shadowy area, her movements ghostly, and approached Chester.
At this moment, she was concealed in the dense woods, so Chester had no way of sensing her presence.
Suddenly, a young man in a smart suit and polished shoes walked over. He appeared to be Chester’s assistant.
“Young Master, I’ve inquired about it,” the young man said in a respectful tone to Chester.
“How’s it going?” Chester squinted his eyes and asked nonchalantly.
“Edward is still stuck at the police station! It’ll be a while before he can get out… and, well,” the assistant smirked slightly, “though Edward won’t admit to the crime, the evidence is solid, and he’s carrying the blame!”
Upon hearing this, Chester breathed a sigh of relief.
Then, he chuckled with a hint of schadenfreude, “Thank goodness we have such a scapegoat… or else, this would have been troublesome
Scapegoat? Hearing this, Charlotte unconsciously clenched her fingers. A cold and profound chill passed through her eyes. Just as she suspected Chester showing up here in the middle of the night was definitely suspicious.
“However, it seems that Christopher, his father, won’t let it go that easily,” the assistant continued, “I’ve heard he’s been working tirelessly, using all his connections for Edward…”
Chester snorted coldly, a trace of disdain in his eyes. “Christopher’s family is nothing to be afraid of. They’re all a bunch of useless people. Even if this matter reaches our grandparents, they will side with us. What do I have to fear from them?” Not only did he not address Christopher as his uncle but also looked down on him completely.
Suddenly, a gust of cold wind blew in. Then, a lightning–fast black shadow swooped down like a fierce black whirlwind.
“What is this?” Chester was immediately shocked, his eyes wide as he exclaimed.
Charlotte didn’t waste time on words; she delivered a powerful punch straight to Chester’s eye.
“A thud.”
Chester cried out in pain, and a black eye immediately appeared on his face.
“You…” The assistant by his side looked at Charlotte, who had appeared out of nowhere, with disbelief in his eyes, a look of shock in his gaze
“Long time no see,” Charlotte’s lips curled slightly, revealing a faint, icy smile.
At this moment, she resembled a cold, formidable warrior exuding an intimidating presence from head to toe.
As she–finished speaking, Charlotte gave Chester another punch.
