Chapter 108
Gabriel only learned the truth through a live stream and the video that had gone viral online. He was still recuperating, unable to do much with his leg confined in a cast.
Right now, all he felt was hatred for Sabrina.
As he looked out the window of his recovery room, memories of his early days with Sabrina came rushing back. He used to brush off Isabella’s worries, thinking she was being dramatic, a mistake he now deeply regretted.
His fans loved the image he portrayed with Sabrina–the sweet, innocent–looking woman who made him appear even more charming.
“Gabriel, you need to take care of Sabrina. That’s the management’s order,” Leo had told him once.
At first, he didn’t think much of it, treating it like simply mentoring a junior colleague in the entertainment industry. But everything changed when he found Sabrina crying in the dressing room during a drama shoot.
“Why are you crying?” he asked.
“Because I’m so stupid,” she sniffled. “The director scolded me because I kept messing up a scene and wasting everyone’s time.”
Her helplessness reminded him of his struggles when he started in the industry.
He spoke to the director on her behalf, partly because the company had asked him to protect her. That was when everything started to change.
He began visiting Sabrina on set even when he wasn’t part of the project. The rumors started soon after.
When Isabella confronted him, her voice still shaky from crying, the situation reached a breaking point.
“Are you cheating on me with Sabrina, Gabriel?”
The accusation in her tone had ignited his temper instantly.
“Don’t start with that, Isabella. The management just asked me to protect Sabrina,” he snapped, his voice harsh and defensive.
“The management?” Isabella’s voice had cracked with hurt. “Gabriel, when are you going to introduce me as your girlfriend to the public?”
He could perfectly recall the pain in Isabella’s voice, but at that moment, all he had felt was overwhelming frustration.
“Isabella, you’ve shown incredible patience throughout our relationship. You understand why I can’t publicly acknowledge you as my girlfriend; it would complicate the management’s marketing strategy for my image.”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “You’re here with me, sharing my home, practically my wife in everything but name. You know my schedule intimately, so you should realize there’s nothing between me and Sabrina. Those are just rumors! What more do you want from me?”
Isabella’s chest tightened, her voice heavy with a sadness that seemed to fill the room. “Gabriel… what I want is to kn where I truly stand in your life.”
Gabriel exhaled sharply. He was completely drained. Isabella’s emotions felt like another heavy load on top of everything he was already struggling with. Without another word, he grabbed his keys and left.
He checked into a hotel, needing space, needing silence…

But Isabella loved him too much to let the distance grow. Before three days had passed, her message arrived:
Isabella: ‘I’m really sorry, babe. I let my insecurities get the best of me. I’m just so drained from auditions and tapings, and I needed your support. I love you so much. Please don’t be mad at me.”
Reading her words, Gabriel exhaled deeply, feeling the tension leave his body. That evening, he returned home, and they found their way back to each other, the conflict seemingly resolved.
But their reconciliation was short–lived.
Just a week later, Golden Stage–particularly Charlotte Prescott—had another request. Gabriel’s five–year contract was nearing its end, yet his career was only beginning to take off.
“The public response to Gabriel and Sabrina’s chemistry has been fantastic,” Leo remarked in the meeting room.
“I’ve noticed that, too,” another executive added.
Praise filled the room. Sabrina was also there, offering a gentle smile, though she seemed slightly embarrassed for him.
Charlotte’s voice was careful as she continued, “We’ve received several endorsement offers for both of you. One particular brand is especially keen on your pairing, so…” She hesitated before continuing. “We want you to cultivate a public image as a couple.”
Gabriel’s heart thundered in his chest as the implications sank in. “You’re asking me to pretend to be in a relationship with Sabrina?”
He couldn’t do that; Isabella would be devastated.
“This is a management decision,” Charlotte stated firmly. “Your combined marketability will open doors to higher–profile opportunities, especially given the current buzz around your names.”
“Gabriel, just agree to it. Isabella will understand–it’s all just for show anyway,” Leo added.
That night, Gabriel accepted Golden Stage’s offer but couldn’t bring himself to return to the apartment for two days. The thought of facing Isabella paralyzed him with guilt.
He prepared a ring–a tangible promise of their future together to ease the impact and maybe ease his guilt.
The simple yet heartfelt proposal overjoyed Isabella. However, her happiness shattered as Gabriel revealed the truth.
The management wants me to maintain a public image with Sabrina. We’re getting a flood of offers, and this will push our careers even further. Isabella, I know you understand, right?”
No. She didn’t.
Tears streamed down her face as she grappled with the reality of watching the man she loved to parade around with another woman while she remained hidden in the shadows of their private life.
But in the end, as always, she chose to understand him. It was his career, after all.

What started as a single argument turned into an endless cycle of pain. Gabriel had to travel to see Sabrina–sometirees to another state, sometimes to another country. His grand gestures for her became a media sensation. Fans adored hi industry praised him. And somewhere along the way, he started enjoying the attention.
He didn’t realize how much he was hurting Isabella. Or maybe he did–but ignored it, intoxicated by the spotlight and the
admiration he received.
Then, one day, news broke that Isabella had been cast as his co–star in an upcoming series.

At least he’d get to see her, even from a distance.
But this small comfort vanished when Leo told him about the planned intimate scenes with Sabrina. He had never taken on a role like this before, and now, he had no idea how to explain it to Isabella.
