CASSIE 34: Yellow Roses

CASSIE 34: Yellow Roses

Where did you take Cassie and Isabella?Asher demanded, storming toward Ronan’s table where he was deep in conversation with a potential investor.

It had been three months since the two women disappeared from Century City. Ronan was never supposed to leave Cassies sidebut he had no choice. As the days passed, she only grew weaker, fighting to save their child with everything she had left.

He couldn’t handle the mess of emotions crashing down on him, so he threw himself into work instead. It was the only thing that made sense. He respected her choices, even when they left a painful emptiness inside him.

And now here was Asher, demanding answers he didn’t deserve.

He wouldn’t tell him the truth if it cost him everything right here and now. They weren’t just enemiesRonan knew seeing Asher would only bring Cassie more stress. And she deserved peace, not more chaos.

You took Cassie!Asher shouted again, his voice echoing across the hotel restaurant. Bring her back to me!

Ronan clenched his jaw, but said nothing. He had a lot he wanted to say, but none of it would fix the damage already done. Instead, he turned to the businessman sitting across from him, who now looked visibly nervous.

Ronan stood and extended a firm hand.

It’s been a pleasure meeting you, sir. Let’s reschedule our discussion. My assistant will contact you shortly to arrange a more suitable time. Please accept my apologies for the interruption.”

The man nodded quickly and left without another word, eager to get away from the tension.

Where did you take Cassie?!Asher demanded again.

Something in Ronan finally snapped. His fist flew before he even thought about it, landing squarely on Asher’s cheek. The impact sent the man sprawling across the plush carpet.

You did this to yourself, Asher Reid, Ronan snapped. You haven’t changed at all. Have you completely lost your mind, disrupting a billiondollar negotiation with your childish tantrum?

I know you have her!Asher shouted back, dragging himself up. Tell me the truth!

Ronan’s eyes went cold as winter. Yes, I have Cassie. And I’m never giving her back to someone like you- She doesn’t want to see you!

Asher broke down, a raw, guttural cry escaping as he dropped to his knees. Tears streamed down his face; he wasn’t trying to hold it together anymore.

Around him, people stared, frozen. Suited executives and highend diners exchanged uneasy glances, unsure whether to look away or keep watching as one of the city’s most powerful men came undone. The polished image he’d built over the years? Gone in seconds.

Four years, Asher Reid!Ronan’s voice was a growl, his jaw clenched tight. That’s how long you hurt my Cassie. Did you ever hear a word from me?He seized Asher by the collar, dragging him close, eyes blazing. Cassie doesn’t trust me because that’s what you poisoned her mind to believe!

Something dangerous flickered in Ronan’s eyes. He shoved Asher hard, years of pentup anger finally breaking loose.

The whole restaurant went dead silentthe tension thick enough to cut with a knife.

Without a word, Ronan extended his hand. His assistant stepped forward, placing an envelope into his palm.

This is my parting gift to you,” Ronan said flatly, tossing the envelope at Asher, who was still on the ground, his mind all over the place.

Asher’s trembling fingers reached for the envelope, recognition dawning in his eyes as they traced over his name written in Cassie’s distinctive, flowing script.

Asher

Ronan turned his back, deliberately ending the argument.

Tell me at least if she’s safeAsher’s voice cracked through the silence.

But Ronan didn’t stop. He kept walking, not saying a word, leaving Asher Reid alone with his worries and the haunting thought of what could’ve been.

Ronan bought fresh yellow roses, carefully preserving them, hoping they would still look perfect when they reached Cassie. His heart was heavy with fear, a flood of questions choking him, but he forced himself to smile for her.

When he arrived at the villa, he was met with unsettling silence. Fear gripped his chest, making breathing hard as he stood

frozen in the driveway.

He immediately dialed Isabella.

RonanIsabella’s voice cracked into a sob, sending a cold shiver down his spine. Just the way she said his name, he knew something was terribly wrong.

Wwhere are you?he managed.

At the hospitalIsabella’s words were enough to push him into action.

There was no more time to hesitate. He had to give the yellow roses to Cassie.

He made his way back to the car, instructing the driver with urgency, though his emotions were close to overwhelming him.

As they drove, Ronan finally lost it. Silent tears slid down his face as he blankly stared at the passing scenery. Up front, his driver and bodyguard shared a quiet, sorrowful look in the rearview mirror, keeping their emotions in check out of respect for the grief unfolding in the back.

When they arrived, Ronan rushed down the hallway and found Isabella, pale but composed, doing her best to hold it together, especially with the baby on the way.
